Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Logitech Deluxe Access KeyboardCustomer Review: Excellent keyboard for the price Summary: 5 Stars
This is a nice keyboard. I believe it is the most inexpensive Logitech model. The good news is that Logitech doesn't make junk. It's slightly tweaked from a standard keyboard, in that keyboard is not inclined upward but horizontal. There is a also a plastic wrist-rest that attaches to the front of the keyboard. These changes I believe are supposed to make typing more comfortable since your wrists are no longer twisted upwards. I am experimenting using the keyboard with and without the wrist-rest; I think it largely depends on the height of the chair you are sitting in--if your chair is high enough, then the wrist-rest is good, if your chair is lower, the wrist-rest leaves your wrists uncomfortably high. There are some other slight differences in the keyboard; the 1st row of keys (spacebar, control, alt, etc.) are tapered toward the front of the keyboard, I assume for ergonomic reasons. I like the feel of the keyboard; it requires only a light touch. It is also fairly quiet i.e. no loud clicking. The only things I don't like are minor--the function keys must be enabled using a F-lock key--however they stayed locked for the remainder of the time the computer is on. I also couldn't get the software to work--the one that is supposed to map various keys to things like e-mail, your internet home page, etc. I don't really care about that, so I didn't really try very hard to get it to work--it probably would have if I persisted. I also had some problems de-installing the drivers--when I removed them, the keyboard wouldn't work. I had to reinstall the drivers again. The keyboard worked OK in Debian Linux (Sarge/3.1), as well as Windows. The keyboard looks attractive enough, although the wrist-rest if charcoal and the keyboard off-white so they don't match. In all, an excellent keyboard for the price.
Customer Review: Good keyboard...Great price Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this keyboard for two systems I built (one for myself and one for someone else) six months ago. I love it, and neither of the keyboards have had any problems. It types easily and quietly and has a nice array of functions for an inexpensive keyboard. It took a little bit to get used to hitting the F-Lock key to access F1-F12, but it has never caused me any problems. I can count on one hand the number of times I've forgotten to hit the F-Lock key in the past six months. I use the function keys for their other functions 90% of the time, anyway. The media player controls (previous track, next track, play/pause, and stop), along with the My Computer/Documents/Pictures/Music keys are the most helpful. I like the fact the media key brings up a menu, since I use about 3 different media players on a regular basis. It only has a PS/2 connection, so if you're looking for USB, this isn't the keyboard for you. I prefer to not waste a USB port on a keyboard, when I have plenty of other things that require USB. Logitech makes quality products that last. I used to work retail, and the Logitech products didn't come back very often, compared to Microsoft mice and keyboards which came back frequently. I would definitely recommend this keyboard for its price, quality and functionality.
Customer Review: Very good value Summary: 5 Stars
I got one of these at work a few months ago (I'm a full-time programmer). I like it a lot. It has good action, is quiet, has standard placement for the cursor control keys between the numeric keypad and the regular keys (2 rows of 3, not 3 rows of 2 like many others).
I didn't install the drivers from the CD, but many of the functions still work (XP pro), like volume, mute, email, browser. I don't use them that much, but now that I'm buying one for home, maybe I'll get more used to them.
I like the fact that there aren't a zillion buttons to choose from like some others, so you don't get overwhelmed and don't have to look for what you want.
I really don't think you can beat it for the price (usually under $15).
The only bad thing is that when you reboot, you need to press a button to enable the standard function keys at the top (there's a light that tells you when it's enabled). I often forget, but the first time it doesn't work, I remember. I don't really use them that much anyway - mainly just F5 for refresh.
Customer Review: I like it Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this keyboard in December 2006. The keyboard is sturdy and has just enough weight. The keys have a solid feel and soft for my liking. The keys do make noises, but not that loud. However, I like that tapping sound when typing so I'm not too concern about the noises. Because this keyboard is white, the keys do accumulate dirt fast, especially I have sweaty fingers. Not that hard to clean. Just use a wet clothe or paper towel. The keyboard comes with extra functions on top with the media control and a palm rest on the bottom. The palm rest is plastic so nothing too fancy. It is detached/attachable so you can use your own palm/wrist rest. One thing that is annoying is you have to hit the [F]lock button on the top left of the keyboard each time you turn on the computer to use the F1 through F12. If it is not turned on then those F buttons will be controlling your media, such as music player. Overall I give it a 5 because I still use it and still in very good condition. Plus, you can't go wrong with logitech.
Customer Review: Excellent keyboard. Summary: 5 Stars
I had some doubts about this keyboard when I bought it. Unlike all the other keyboards I've used, it's very low profile with hardly any upward slope towards the back, with very light keys. But after using it seriously for only one day, I found that my touch typing speed and accuracy was significantly higher. It's gotten even better with time. The slight arm and shoulder aches I've had with other keyboards have gone, plus I never accidentally bump the sloped front "Windows" keys like I always did with the others. Obviously Logitech know a lot about ergonomics (human/machine interaction). The multimedia and second-function keys mostly do what they're supposed to, except that the e-mail functions don't want to work with my Eudora program. That's not important to me. I wanted comfortable accurate touch typing, and I've got it. I seriously recommend this keyboard, especially to people who have to do a lot of writing like I do!
