Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Logitech Cordless TrackMan WheelCustomer Review: If you encounter problems try this... Summary: 5 Stars
To address a few issues here..THIS IS NOT A LAPTOP WIRELESS
This feels identical to the wired version..Not sure why someone said it feels cheap
This works fine in XP and Win 7..I don't use Vista..Plug and play..not drivers need..not recommended by Logitech..
Have been some problems with Set Point(logitech utility) and this trackman..but I use it for my wireless keyboard so I do use it with out problem.
Mine worked perfect for first few months..from 4-5 feet away..not one problem..Now it's intermittently working..I still get 4 feet or so..but sometime not..
I called Logitech(it's about 8 months old) and they mailed me out a brand new one..Didn't even want the old one back..Didn't even want a receipt..lol..hrmmm
Anyway, Maybe you just got a bad receiver or trackball unit...could be either
what you can do is
take battery out and hold the right click button for 30 secs
(this will discharge the the trackman)
put battery back in
hold the button on the receiver down for 20 seconds..(this will switch the transmitter channel)
then hit the button on receiver and then the little button on bottom of trackman
If that fails something is either interfering or you have a bad unit or receiver
My problem was a bad receiver/transmitter..swapped it out and back to 6+ foot range and just as responsive as the wired one..Now I have a back up for the trackman if I end up ruining that..These have a 5 yer warranty so if you run into a problem..CALL LOGITECH..THEY ARE ACTUALLY GREAT
Customer Review: Great little mouse Summary: 5 Stars
Since my desk exists in various states of [dis]organization, I grew weary of unearthing my cord to move the mouse, even a couple of inches. Frequently, the mouse cord slipped between book pages, or dragged a desk accessory to its demise to the floor. When I found this mouse, I couldn't wait to get it.
It replaces its identical Logitech corded cousin, so there was no learning curve, except for remembering that I had freedom to roam!
Installation to my PC was effortless and there were no issues. The receiver is quite large, as noted by one reviewer, but it is fine for a desktop like mine. Use with a laptop could be difficult for that reason.
If you're using a standard mouse-wired or otherwise-switching to a trackball will make your computer time much more comfortable. It will take a bit of time to get the hang of it, but the time spent adjusting is well worth it.
Another plus to the Logitech is thumb control. I've found that finger-operated control balls require more muscle movement and less accuracy. In my opinion, my hand rests comfortably on the beautifully ergonomic mouse and I can click n' roll all day long. Due to a disability, I frequently use the onscreen keyboard. The design of the Trackman limits extraneous muscle movements, making it easy to peck away without pain.
Great purchase!
UPDATE: March 7, 2010 Three days ago, I dropped this thing on a hard floor. The impact caused the ball to land in the next room. IT STILL WORKS PERFECTLY!!
Customer Review: A pleasure to work with Summary: 5 Stars
This is the best pointing device I have ever owned. Much better than a mouse, and leagues better than the Microsoft trackball I used before this one.
I bought the TrackMan because I was experiencing some fatigue on my right shoulder from using my mouse so much. I had used a trackball before (the Microsoft I mentioned previously), but never liked it because the ball kept sticking. I wanted to try another trackball rather than another mouse. I read the reviews here, and decided on the Logitech TrackMan. I was not disappointed.
The feel is very comfortable, and the action is smooth. The supplied driver software allows plenty of customization of the buttons and pointer speed.
I love the acceleration feature. I have two monitors, and getting the pointer from one to the other is a breeze.
The TrackMan was so easy to install. It started working as soon as I had installed the battery and plugged the wireless receiver into my computer, even before I had installed the driver or pressed the 'communicate' buttons!
The driver software provides superb functionality, so I do advise using it even if the Trackman will work without.
If you are used to using a mouse, you may need a little time to become proficient with the trackball, but in the end I believe this is the way to go.
All in all, I am completely happy with this device.
Customer Review: Great Mouse Summary: 5 Stars
i got this mouse a few days ago, and i have but one things to say about it- ITS AWESOME! although the setup intructions are slightly incorrect, once you get past that point, this mose moves faster and when you get a cordless, this one can work up to 5 or 6 feet away from its reciever. and about the reciever, be very careful about buying this mouse if you dont have a space about 1 foot away from all other electronics; if the reciever is too close to electronics, it tends to disconnect and not get many movements from the mouse. and while many people say that trackball mice are not good for precision, id have to object. i was able to use the "paint" application just fine with this mouse and i would have to say that even though its shape is very different than that of the traditional mouse, it only takes a short while to adjust to its shape. my dad has only used it once or twice, and even he has become adjusted to it.i would hav to say that this is well worth every penny and i would highly reccommend it to anyone who has limited space, a little spare time, or just wants something unique. $40, i think, is an awesome price for such a capable mouse. if you hav a desk that has the pull-out keyboard drawer like I do, than i would really recommend that you buy a cordless mouse.and once again, be very careful of how much distance you can put between the reciever and other electronics- have fun!
Customer Review: BUY this mouse, but NOT the cordless version! Summary: 5 Stars
- The Logitech TrackMan trackball mice are well designed for ergonomic comfort and functionality, are precise and easy to use.
- The Logitech TrackMan may take some getting used to for those who have never used a trackball mouse before. Stick with it through the adjustment period and you will likely grow to love it.
- The Logitech TrackMan may help reduce wrist and arm pain that some people experience from daily use of "regular" mice, since the trackball design stabilizes the hand. I bought a TrackMan for my mom for this reason. Since she started using it a few months ago, her nagging wrist and elbow pain has disappeared.
- When the batteries run down on the cordless TrackMan, the mouse stops working with little to no notice.
- The cordless Trackman seems to prone to breakage for no apparent reason. I went through three (3) of them, each of which abruptly stopped working within three (3) months of purchase. I finally switched to the corded version (Logitech Trackman Wheel Optical), which has actually held up well for me so far. Its design is exactly the same as the cordless version, and it's about half the price. Mom is still happy with hers, too.
Happy comparing!
