A friend of mine was using the Logitech Number Pad with his notebook and I really wanted one. I especially like that no software installation is necessary for the pad to work with a notebook. The product from Amazon thoughtfully came with 2 AAA batteries so I could get it working right away.
I think the number pad is great. It has the right features: seamless wireless connectivity, one button access to the web, microsoft excel and e-mail, and easy to use keys. I could have gotten any of the number pads sold at brick & mortar retailers like Office Depot and Staples that don't work as well and cost more, but I decided to hold out for the Logitech and order on-line from Amazon. (Amazingly enough, this product is not sold in stores in the Washington D.C. area and can only be acquired on-line or by mail order.) I don't usually like to order things on-line or through catalogs, but in this case, I am really glad I did.
I also have to send Cheers!!! to the team at Amazon. This process worked flawlessly. I put in my order on the morning of June 24 and selected the Super Saver option - which means I did not have to pay for ground shipping. Amazon said the shipping could take 5 to 9 business days (which is why I debated going this route). To my extremely pleasant surprise, my number pad arrived the Next Day! Ya gotta love it. Not only did I get a great product at a cost savings, but I didn't even pay for shipping and I got it super-fast. Thanks so much Amazon!

When you first get this number pad after using others you realize that this is different, better, it is quality.
You know the type, you can't get into it unless you break a nail, your scissors and a friend's jacknife. The packaging the Logitech number pad comes in is a perferated platic peg hanger. You simply bend the pastic and it opens like a clamshell.
Lifting this business tool for the first time it has the feel of solid well built made to last construction.
After installing the 2 AAA batteries that come in the package you are good to go. All of the XP systems that we hooked up with all found the device to be plug and play. Just puch the connect buttons and you are ready to fly. Quick launch buttons on the top of the pad make going between applications a breeze. The larger than usual number makes accuracy in the mobile business environment much easier. This pad is better that the pad that comes standard on a desktop keyboard.
A note about Amazon. The first Logitech number pad was defective, it would not sync or or stay connected if it did sync. Reading the amount of positive reviews We decided to try again. Amazon sent a replacement Logitech number pad before they received the defective one back. If it had been the only number pad we had there would have been only two days of down time. Amazon is great! I suggest always having two just in case. Now the 2 should be Logitech Cordless Number Pad.

I bought this to replace a wired 10-key touch pad for my DESKTOP computer whose entertainment-focused keyboard lacks a 10-key, and I'm flat out impressed by the quality of the Logitech Cordless Number Pad "for Notebooks".
It's elegant and, so far, nearly flawless. There's no response time to wake it up as with some wireless products. The USB receiver fits nicely into the unit and the carrying case, Excel/Calculator/Internet Explorer buttons and energy-saving power button are all nice features. Also, since it's wireless, there's less clutter on my desk now!
The only thing I can't comment on yet is the battery life since I've only had the product for a week. If the unit lives up to its "6-month battery life" claim, I'll go so far as to say this is one of my most recommended purchases.
The only improvement I'd wish for is Bluetooth capability to free-up the USB port the wireless receiver requires.
FOLLOW UP: I ended up getting a little over 2 months of battery life off of 24/7 use of this device. That's a little short of the 6 month claim, but I think it's fairly impressive, nonetheless!

I use this product almost every day at work & am very pleased with it. I also own a Logitech wireless mouse which I am quite pleased with. This was no exception.
I like the absence of a cord which would only get in the way. I don't know about anyone else but I already have a mess of USB cords littering my desk. It also has all the features I could ask for such as a tab & backspace key. Both of which where lacking in other similar products. I even find the calculator & Excel hot-keys useful, although I didn't think so at first.
The only cons I can think of are that there are no USB ports which most similar products have. Also (and this is nitpicking) the device could be a bit heavier, as it seems to jump a bit when my hand is really flying across the keypad.

I have been looking for a good cordless 10-key for many years. In fact, I would have settled for a corded product as long as the keys were the right size. The most important factor in my deciding to purchase this item was the size of the "+" key. If you look at your standard keyboard, the + key is bigger than the other keys. Yet if you look at the majority of 10-key products on the market, you'll notice that the + key is small. Think this doesn't matter? Then you don't perform much data entry and thus, have no need for this product. The second feature I love about this product is the backspace key - no more switching back to the laptop to correct an error. The hot keys are an added bonus as well. Overall, a great product!
