Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Logitech Cordless Desktop Wave SetCustomer Review: Free your fingers, simplify your life! - a review from a satisfied MAC user Summary: 5 Stars
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
I've occasionally tried new or funky keyboard designs and been underwhelmed. For some time now, I've stuck to my standard Mac keyboard because it had several functions I liked even though it was fairly uncomfortable. I have found, however, Logitech's new ergonomic "Wave" keyboard and mouse to be an excellent product that has already simplified my life at the keyboard. It took about five minutes to setup the keyboard and mouse, and then another ten minutes to find and install the Mac driver on their website. (It would have been nice for there to be some indication in the packaging that Mac users would have to get a different driver than the one that is included for Windows Vista users.) After that, however, I was up and running. Whatever bugs earlier reviewers have reported in the Mac drivers seem to have been worked out and the system works like a charm. The function buttons are preprogrammed for standard application use -- iTunes, iCal, Word, Excel, Safari, etc. -- and can be reprogrammed very easily. The keyboard feels smooth and comfortable and is very lightweight. Best of all, it can be picked up and moved. I can type from across the room if I like -- and if you can't see what you are typing from far away, there is a handy zoom button that automatically boosts the size of the font on web pages (or increases the size of photos). The mouse is a fairly standard wireless mouse, with a handy ambidextrous design, a programmable button on either side and a scroll that has programmable clicks and even left right scroll functions. Probably my favorite feature is the handy music controls at the top of the keyboard -- one button that opens my iTunes and then a volume control, track forward and backward, play, pause, stop and mute buttons. The only minor quibble I can imagine is that the keyboard feels so good on my hands and is so useful for so many functions it is almost a pain to have to reach away from it to use the included mouse -- in that sense I almost wish there were a small track pad attached here so that you could perform most mouse functions directly on the keyboard (and reserve the mouse itself for more precise applications like gaming or graphics editing, etc.). That is, however, a minor complaint. I've given up my standard Mac keyboard for good. Logitech won me over with this one.
Customer Review: Excellent quality at a low price, but is it right for you? Summary: 5 Stars
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
I installed this product on my Vista PC with a minimum of fuss. I had to give permission for the installation procedure to access the Internet and I had to download one driver. Everything worked as it should, first time. The keyboard is lighter and flatter than I expected - I thought it was going to have one of those bulky rests for the wrists, but fortunately not. I particularly like the scroll wheel on the mouse, which allows you to move left and right over a document by tilting the wheel left and right. Because the novel features of the keyboard and mouse are ergonomic as much as functional, they may or may not be right for you. The unorthodox key layout will upset some people and delight others. The Home and End keys are aligned horizontally rather than vertically, which makes sense when you consider that they are most often used to go to the beginning and end of lines. The delete key is extra large, on the basis that it is frequently used. If you habitually use several different keyboards and like the keys to be always where you expect them to be, you may be irritated by these innovations. The keys are very quiet, but with a slightly spongy feel. To know if this is right for you, you need to think about how you work. For instance, if you want a cordless keyboard so you can sit on a sofa some distance from a large screen in a games room or whatever, wouldn't you need a trackball rather than a separate mouse? Also, are you so pushed for space that you won't want this larger than usual keyboard? Personally, I love it. Being free of those cords has made life a lot easier. This is not, in all honesty, a product that you really need - it is something that you might love to have. This product screams quality, from the packaging (Logitech pack their stuff well enough to withstand cataclysmic disasters, and attractively enough to make it feel like Christmas when you open it) through installation, to use. And the price is good. Your upgrade path should be: Wait until you need a new PC, then buy one with Vista already installed (upgrading is a pain), then add this keyboard and mouse to your Amazon Wish List, a few weeks before Christmas, and start dropping hints.
Customer Review: Best feel keyboard I have tried Summary: 5 Stars
After i got my new IBM laptop, I have found out that the difference of a good keyboard and a bad keyboard really makes a great deal on using computer. This about it, you are spending big bucks on CPU, Memory, Video Card, etc....but do you know, nowadays, if you don't play games or do intense graphic work, you very very rarely, and I do mean very rarely use the full capacity of your computer (From a review i read, most of time, you only use up to 10~20% of the full load). After 10 years of computer usage, I have came to realize that it has became very true, that those spec don't matter that much no more when you don't play games or do video editing. So instead of spending big money on those spec, or so call "SPEED", you are really better off to spend your money on 3 things:
1. Monitor: it's the "THING" that you look at everyday!!! And it's wat brings everything alive, without a good screen, what good does it make when you have the best of everything?
2. Case: A good case with good cooling method, produce little noise, it's very good for your ear!! Seriously, this is more important then speed when you using it in a quiet room
3. Keyboard & Mouse: Last but not the least, the inputting device, that you use every single day, min, second! It's what you actually touch and feel, that you use all the time. And it's something that you have to look at too!!
So after these reason, it's really why I start searching for the best keyboard I can find for my everyday use. Logitech Wave came to my eye and it's really the best and most comfortable keyboard I have tried. I'm recommeding this set for it's Value + Performance. The entire typing experience on this keyboard is just surperb, you really feel like your PC is a new machine after setting this up on your PC. The feel and response are great, it's light but with great bounce. The Wave shaped keyboard feels akward at first, but after you get use to it, you can be typing faster than ever. The mouse though is not the best, but good for the pricing! And it's wireless!! Some of the bad are the size of the keyboard is kinda big, and also the range doesn't go that far. But they don't bother me that much. I will still recommend this to People!! Give it a try a local STORE!
Customer Review: Extremely Comfortable, Great Quality, Convenient Features, Decent Range Summary: 5 Stars
I have used this product for at least an hour or two per day since I purchased it two weeks ago. Overall I love this keyboard/mouse set. I most often connect my laptop (Windows 7) to an HDTV and use these to control everything from a couch or bed across the room.
Pros:
- Very comforatble and ergonomic. The wave design is genious, and even the mouse is more comforatble than most.
- Nice build quality: sturdy construction and the keys/buttons feel nice to the touch
- No Lag, very responsive
- Plug and play, drivers weren't needed
- The mouse works on many different surfaces. No need for any sort of mousepad unless your on a reflective surface like glass or polished granite
Cons:
- Lack luster range, most users won't find this an issue unless they try using across the room it like I do. Seems to work perfectly if 3-4 feet away from the receiver so extending the supplied usb cord works fine while still affording flexibility.
- Not all the extra buttons along the top and side (ie. zoom) work with Windows 7. I know this was developed for Vista, and I have not tried to update the drivers, so that may resolve the problem. Also, I view these as bonuses and do not impact the overall usablility of the product. Other importand buttons such as volume and media controls (play, pause, next, previous) work perfectly.
Conclusion:
I am going to purchase another set for the office based on my great experience with the one I got for personal use. Its ergonomic, well built, and a great value. It was not made for the range I tried using it for, but that was easily remedied by extending the cord on the receiver and hiding it. I also suspect that simply updating the driver will make the rest of the function buttons work properly, I'll update this review when I get around to that.
**If you want a great keyboard / mouse combo, look no further.
Customer Review: Exceptional Desktop! Summary: 5 Stars
We all know, Logitech makes good stuff. Anyone who has bought any product of theirs instantly realize what a good, reliable product they make. But this desktop is on a whole other level. Typing is a breeze, comfort is very good, and the mouse makes a satisfiable click sound. The keys on the keyboard feel light weight and jumpy, not exactly like laptop keys and not heavy enough to be a regular desktop keyboard requiring heavy pressing.
The stock batteries (Duracells) lasted me a whole year and a half! That's insane battery life and as I write this only the batteries in the mouse died earlier as it's used more often. The ones for the keyboard still work as of writing this. Very easy to setup and comes with USB extender which I use personally for better reception.
The features it includes are awesome. Buttons for pretty much everything you need, and if you have a Vista like I do all the features will call up something. With the software you can assign hotkeys for everything from your instant messaging program to your email and calendar. One downside I could find with assigning F1 keys is I couldn't manage to do it! Whenever I tried to assign a key to one of the function keys it would call up the default program; not what I wanted even though I set it to do otherwise in the software.
Keys may be kind of weird and hard to find as the whole keyboard is curved and may require some adjusting to. The mouse is the perfect size and feels comfortable in the hand. Your thumbs can relax on the soft rubber grips.
Overall, very good keyboard and mouse combination to get! Logitech made a beaut of a product here.
