Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Logitech Cordless Desktop S 530 Laser for Mac ( 967664-0403 )Customer Review: Finaly...A Mouse and Keyboard That Work! Summary: 5 Stars
I've had nothing but trouble using any wireless keyboard and mouse with my PowerMac G5. I had an old Logitec wireless desktop that I used for a while but it had no software for the mac thus limiting its capabilities and ability to adjust the mouse. I also tried Microsoft's Laser 6000 series desktop. What a mistake! I could never get the mouse to work properly. Basic pointing and clicking just didn't work. Even typing had problems. The receiver was not even 24 inches away!
Thank goodness Logitech finally steped up and came out with a desktop exclusively for the Mac. I've only had it for about 24 hours, but so far it is working spectacularly! The mouse is very accurate. The keyboard is stylish and has a nice fell once you get used to it. Kind of like the old school pc keyboards. The software is very nice. I would have liked to see more available options for the buttons (like showing the desktop), but with a little experimenting you can get it to do anything you want. The preset buttons on the keyboard required no configuration and work just fine. I like that they are small and unobtrusive. Hopefully this will be a good seller for Logitec and they will continue to produce desktops exclusively for the Mac. Give it a try. You won't be disappointed.
Customer Review: Logitech delivers same high standards for mac... Summary: 5 Stars
I recently converted to Mac to avoid Vista hell and get rid of an extra Linux server I have sitting around for web development. While the Mac was great, even though infuriating at times feeling like you're 10 years old again learning how to use a computer, the basic keyboard and mouse delivered are horrible. I've always used Logitech for my Windows machines so found a version specifically made for Mac, ignored my nay saying friends that swore none of the drivers / configurable keys would work for Leopard, and purchased the S530.
Yes, it works perfectly. The drivers installed immediately, every specialty button and key on the mouse / keyboard are accessible and configurable, and it finally feels like I'm back to using a keyboard mouse combination designed for people that professionally use keyboards and mice for a living.
One thing, you MUST restart the computer to get the system preferences to lock onto your exact keyboard and mouse combination. The initial install knows it's a logitech brand, 2 button, etc but doesn't know exactly which keyboard and mouse for all the config options. Once you restart system prefs has the exact keyboard and mouse showing with every button on both ready for configuration.
Customer Review: Great mouse and keyboard Summary: 5 Stars
I bought a logitech wireless optical mouse probably when they first came out. I have used that for many years but became frustered with the battery life.
So I decided to go with this package because I paid about $70 for the mouse when I first got it and the price for this package was comparable. The mouse technology has improved a lot since then. The laser technology is so much smoother and feels like a wired mouse. Since it is laser, there is not any noticeable visible light emitted from the mouse which I hope helps the battery life. It is also very comfortable in my hand. The favorite part of the mouse is the volume controls built right in on the side.
The keyboard is also great. It took me about a day to get use to its flatter shape of the keyboard but now I can type more accurately with the same speed. The buttons on the sides are also very useful.
Overall this is the best mouse and keyboard combination that I know of available for the mac and finally logitech has released a software updated to work with intel macs!
Customer Review: excellent product Summary: 5 Stars
The keyboard and mouse are great. It is very important to download the latest software from Logitech. That's why I can give 5 stars. With the old software you couldn't plug and unplug and have the keyboard or mouse work correctly. That all appears fixed now.
I have always loved Logitech mice so when I got my first Mac it was great to see I didn't have to get the Apple branded mouse and keyboard (one mouse button!?).
The keyboard is very flat and has a nice wrist rest while not taking up too much room like some of the newer keyboards. There are a bunch of nice programmable buttons I use occasionally.
The mouse is very nice. It's pretty comfortable and I think it would be good for many different hand sizes. The additional buttons get a lot of use.
The wireless connection works pretty well and the range is as great as I'd ever need.
Lastly, both items look pretty slick. I only wish they came in black because I have a black macbook but I've gotten used to the white and silver.
Customer Review: BUY THIS ONE FOR SURE! Summary: 5 Stars
Mac users have two dilemas- one finding a keyboard to coordinate and work properly with mac and then
to find a keyboard that is smooth and wonderful to use. I have an IMAC osx-10.4 dual core and I tried several
keyboards after the initial apple keyboard began to be crappy. I bought a kensington and returned it in 4 days,
very dis appointed. I have had this Logitech for a week now and put it through its paces. It is excellent!!!!!
Smooth and I dont make typo errors, comfortable, keys all functional and recent upgrade for max osx- The mouse is extremely comfortable and well overall I give this a definite buy it- you wont be sorry!!!! About the only tiny gripe and that is with almost all keyboards, the cap key doesnt light up when you are in caps, but if you are an experienced typist, that should be a minor irritation, especially compared to the garbage of some of those other keyboards.
