Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Logitech Cordless Controller for XboxCustomer Review: Rubber topped thumbsticks will wear out. No replacements! Summary: 1 Stars
I love these controllers, don't get me wrong. I would have given the controller a 5 star rating a couple months ago. Read on.They are a little larger than the standard "S" controller, so they take some getting used to. Just like the "S" controllers, they become 2nd nature as you play more and more. Button placement seems fine to me in all the games I've played. I have experienced no lag times. Play is no different than being wired. For the high cost of these controllers, that was expected. Battery life is better than expected. I believe they are rated at 50hrs per set of batteries, but we have found they go much longer. We use rechargeables which work well. The only con that I can think of (and it's a big one) is that the thumbsticks have soft rubber tops that are a slip-on type, fitting snugly over the joysticks. They have a good feel and provide a firm grip. But, as several people have noted in the Logitech discussion forums, and I have experienced personally, these rubber pads wear out. They simply start falling apart. They disintegrate. My attempt at getting new pads through customer support were replied with "return the controller to the point of purchase" and if that's not an option "return them to Logitech". No good for me since I purchased online and now they're the only controllers I own. Logitech does not offer replacement pads. Why not!? I don't know. They slip on and off easily. Seems they should be able to sell replacements. Our controllers were purchased about 3 months ago and get what I would call "medium usage". With no replacement pads available, soon they will get "no usage". For the high price of these controllers, I thought I would 1. Get a better product. 2. Get better customer service - ie: replaceable parts that are prone to wear.
Customer Review: Didn't hold up under average use Summary: 1 Stars
I purchased this Cordless controller to replace a damaged Controller S. We were quite happy using this Cordless model as our primary game controller even though the slightly different feel from the Controller S required some getting used to. But overall, the benefits of a cordless controller outweighed the minor shortcomings.
For a period of about three months, we enjoyed great performance. However, soon after, the "A" button would feel as though it was sticking slightly after pressing it. This eventually became more noticible when the button would not return to its up position as quickly as it used to. The "click" feeling was also gone as well making gaming even more difficult. As time went on - the "X" button shared the same fate.
The buttons are not spring loaded. There is a flexible piece of moulded rubber underneath the buttons that obviously looses its elasticity with continued play. This appears to be an obvious design flaw -- that should have been exposed with a few thousand button presses.
We could take the frustration no longer and purchased another Controller S.
As a result, this has become our "visitors" game controller with the obvious handicap imposed. It was a great idea, just wasn't up to Logitech standards.
Customer Review: Logitech is missing the boat Summary: 1 Stars
Run do not walk away from the Logitech counter. When the rubber pads wore off my game pad I was willing to pay for replacement parts. Their 800 number sales line was delighted to tell me to call their toll call help line and sit on hold for 20 minutes. According to Logitech these parts are not available for replacement regardless of wether or not you wish to pay for them. This is a terrible example of customer service. Logitech has enough brand recognition apparently that it does not need new customers. I personally will never buy another Logitech product. Companies who refuse to support their products will not get my business.
