Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Logitech AudioHub Notebook SpeakersCustomer Review: Gives My Ears All the Colors of the Rainbow Summary: 5 Stars
I have a MacBook Pro that is chucky jammed full of music, dinosaur music mostly, the Rolling Stones, the Beatles, even lots of Led Zeppelin. However, I love the blues too, listen to Billy Holliday a lot and I'm ashamed to say after a year or so, I've gotten pretty used to the speakers that came with the MBP.
When I first got the machine I thought I was going to be a road warrior, but it didn't work out that way. I spend most of my computing time in a pretty sterile upstairs room, because I don't like any distractions other than my music.
Then I got these speakers. They were very easy to set up and the mix of Apple brushed aluminum and Logitech black look very nice. Plus the extra USB ports that come with these speakers are very handy. But the coup de grace is the sound. I just don't know how I spent all that time listening to Mick and the boys on my MBP's little speakers. For me, Logitech has opened up a whole new world in sound when I work.
I know, I could go downstairs and listen to my surround sound system if I really wanted to listen to music. I could even take my MBP with me, work on my sofa, but there are too many distractions for me to do that. And yes, the sound out of these Logitech speakers doesn't match my expensive Yamaha system, but it's not supposed to. It's supposed to be just what it is, good sounding, good looking speakers that enhance your laptop system and that's exactly what these babies do. They fill my sterile room with sound, making my music a joy for my ears. The walls may be white, but the sound out of these speakers gives my ears all the colors of the rainbow and then some.
Customer Review: Great Sound, Easy to Connect, Works Great! Summary: 5 Stars
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
This speaker system is designed for use with a notebook computer. It is very easy to hook up with a USB port. The speaker width slides to fit your notebook's width. There are two USB ports in the front that you can then use for your MP3 player or anything else you need.
The sound quality is excellent. This is so much better than the speakers I owned before. There is a large range of volume control which is better than my old system which didn't have much difference between too-low and too-high.
There is an optional arm that holds a webcam, which extends upward and would be placed just above your computer screen, you can attach if you want it, or you can just leave it off.
The directions were very easy to understand giving short written directions (one sentence per step) and good illustrations for each step.
I can't figure out what else to say other than it was ridiculously simple to set up and the sound quality is fantastic, much more like a stereo sound system than the older `computer speakers'.
I am actually using my speakers right now as speakers for a regular desktop PC. It can sit on the desktop. Since my monitor is huge I actually have the speakers up on top of the big, flat topped monitor.
I am very happy with this speaker system.
Customer Review: Rich, full sound, easy set up Summary: 5 Stars
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
I am very satisfied with these speakers. The setup took only a couple of minutes. All I needed to do was connect the USB cable to my computer and then plug the power cord into the wall.
I also like the fact that the speakers can pull out to extend to the size of your notebook. My notebook computer has a 17" screen, so they were about 1/4" shy of full reaching onto the sides of my screen, but that did not affect the sound quality at all since the actual speaker had no blockage. These speakers would work especially well for a notebook computer that has a 15" screen.
Upon turning these speakers on via the side dial, I started up an MP3 and was very impressed with the full, rich sound these speakers produced. I cranked the volume up and the sound quality remained clear thanks to the bass port.
These speakers are well worth it if you enjoy listening to music on your notebook computer. This one piece design is not only easy to hook up, but it looks neat and sounds great too.
However, I feel that Logitech could have easily integrated an MP3 port so this would double as an MP3 speaker (not needing a notebook computer).
The webcam stand was a nice touch, although I will not be using it since my notebook already has one built-in.
Customer Review: Nice sound, not portable Summary: 5 Stars
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
My primary computer is a Sony Vaio laptop. I love it, but the sound from the tiny speakers is not very good. The Logitech Speakers provide very good sound when watching videos or listening to music on the PC.
Although some reviewers have said they travel with the speakers, in my opinion they are too bulky and heavy to take on a trip, especially if traveling by air. However, they do not take up too much space on the desktop. The speakers fit nicely behind the laptop, and they can be adjusted to the width of the laptop. This design is more compact and easier to manage than having two separate speakers floating around on the desk.
Having more USB ports available is always a good thing, and the Logitech speakers include a three-port USB hub.
The sound from my laptop speakers sometimes seems too quiet, even when at the highest level. With the Logitech speakers I can get additional volume, so when the volume is low I do not have to resort to using headphones to be able to hear.
If you use your laptop mostly in one place (home or office) and want a solution that will provide richer, higher-quality sound, the Logitech AudioHub Speakers are a good choice.
Customer Review: Fairly powerful for notebook speakers Summary: 5 Stars
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
I have started using my laptop for my main computer, and thought that I would give these speakers a try, since I am tired of having to drag external speakers with me and set them up everytime. The great thing about the Logitech Audiohub, is that these speakers attach to your notebook, so they're somewhat portable and more importantly, they stay out of the way. They are however fairly heavy so you will likely find they don't easily fit in a laptop bag.
As to the sound, it is incredibly rich and a huge improvement over the built in speakers of most notebooks. The sound is very rich with fairly deep bass from the 3-inch subwoofer, and clear treble from the two 2-inch tweeters on the side. It also contains an area for attaching a web cam to the top.
My only problem with the speakers was that I actually had too much cable since it wasn't an exact fit, and was left with extra cable that was a bit in the way. I wouldn't exactly recommend these speakers if you travel with your notebook a lot, but if you watch movies and listen to music on it, and your notebook spends a decent amount of time in one location at your house, they are a great buy.
