Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Logitech Attack 3 JoystickCustomer Review: Okay for the price Summary: 3 StarsThis joystick on the outside is fairly nice for the price. It is comfortable, has a nice array of buttons, and is easy to setup on WinXP. However, the X-axis has some issues. It very easily begins to drift right just a little from the center, but just enough to make shooting a distant enemy 2 fights instead of just one. Recalibration makes the issue better, but is still there. Additionally, every time the computer is reset or the joystick is removed and plugged back in, it must be recalibrated because of the stupid X axis. This could have been a great joystick with a a little more concise control. However, since I do not use a joystick that often, I cannot justify $30+ on a joystick, so I'll stick with this one which I got locally for $20. I have had it for a week, and it has been consistent, so hopefully it will last. Logitech makes good mid to high end products, but some of there lower end stuff is often poorer quality than expected, be it speakers or joystick. In my opinion, it's a bad way to encourage people to buy their high end stuff.
A year or two ago, I bought $80 5.1 Logiechs at Sams for $50, but was very disapointed and returned them. So at the very end of 2005, I wanted some very nice 2.1. Thanks to my Logitech experience, I skipped them and went strait to Klipsch.
Customer Review: Excellent for FS2002 Summary: 5 StarsAs the title explains, this is primarily used for simple games such Microsoft's Flight Simulator Series, and I have never had a problem with it on my CPU. Most of the problems come from a CPU not being able to handle the strain of USB devices, which is why USB is not recommended for gaming devices unless there isn't anything else, but for easy going games such as simple flying games with no crazy dogfighting or anything else, this is a great buy. All calibration issues can be solved by calibrating the joystick once a week, even if it doesn't need it. Even though its not stated anywhere, I've done it out of habit and none of the joysticks I've had has been messed up.
But the joystick also lacks a rudder feature which can actually be a problem. That is the one of the two flaws I can find in it. The other is that it doesn't have a 360 degree turning so you have to use the keyboard to switch views.
Customer Review: Holy Logitech Attack 3 Batman! Summary: 5 Stars I needed a joystick, nothing fancy just something simple. I bought one that was a little too simple for about $16. I needed ANOTHER one. I found this Logitech Attack 3 one, for also $16. The caliber of the LA3 in quality and use is amazing. This joystick is fantastic. The stick itself is spring loaded but feels like it's gliding. The buttons and trigger are all on hair touches making for easy presses. And the throttle is a gliding scroll button that's very smooth and never leaves where you put it. One hand works the stick while the other works the bottom buttons and throttle. If you need a joy stick for some simple flying and dog fighting, (i.e. Star Wars Galaxies: Jump to Lightspeed) then the Logitech Attack 3 is perfect for you. Low price that delivers way more than it should. If you're a "sim" kind of guy then no, don't get this because it's not a sim stick, it's a joy stick, and it will bring you joy.
Customer Review: Calibration issues Summary: 1 StarsI recently purchased this item. I thought it was a fantastic joystick, besides the fact that you were not able to twist it. It worked fine for about a week and seemed very sturdy. Then in all the games I used it with, the calibration was off and everything always went to the left, even when not touching the joystick. I had calibrated it multiple times, and it would work well temporarily, but then it would start in again. I finally got fed up after recalibrating it 20 times and I returned it. Do not purchase it, it has issues.
Customer Review: keep reasonable expectations Summary: 5 StarsMarch 22, 2005
I plugged it in, it worked. I wanted a simple, inexpensive joystick. I got what I was looking for. I wasn't disappointed. If you want a real joystick, find a flight instructor and a Citabria.
December 2005
It's still working and I'm still pleased with it.
