Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Logitech 720p Webcam Pro 9000

Customer Review: Far and away the best picture quality I've seen in a webcam
Summary: 5 Stars

This Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000 webcam is an impressive piece and I'm happy I got the top of the line (for now) even though it was more expensive than the economy-model alternatives (though all Logitech webcams are good, in my experience, even the economy-models).

It does not have a privacy shade, which would be nice, but I just use a small micro-fiber cloth as a "privacy shutter" for mine.

The webcam most impressed me with its accurate white-balance and color reproduction. Other webcams, especially in flourescent and other tricky lighting conditions, never looked "natural" to me, even if it was clear what was going on. This webcam is clear, crisp and has to be experienced to be understood (a friend has one and once I saw how that one looked and since Skype kept bugging me to get a "High-Def" camera, I kept meaning to pick this up until I finally did buy it).

The stand is pretty flexible and well, but without resorting to a "choke-hold" to my LCD monitor, and the cam itself can be rotated up or down once the stand is in place.

The lens seems to have a fairly wide-angle lens. At a distance of about 2 feet from me, the webcam covers a nice area behind me, right and left, so keep that in mind before you start your video conversation with someone, if you need some privacy in the background.

Though pricier than the others, it seems like a great webcam to me and offers a far superior picture quality to the other webcams I've used and I'm glad I bought it.

Customer Review: Best Webcam I've Ever Experienced
Summary: 5 Stars

I ordered this camera off the recommendation of a friend of mine. First things first, the quality on this camera is amazing. I have brought it directly to my face, and it focused perfectly on my eye, eyelashes extremely clear and visible. This camera's ability to work in low light is also wonderful. I have managed to take very clear pictures with the light of the laptop's screen being the only light source.

Now here's the kicker, and it's important to note. I've read some reviews on here about the frame rate not being optimal for video. This is not true. The blur motion of video recording on this webcam is a circumstance of low lighting. I believe it might be capable of running better without blur, but I believe the RightLight technology which makes such low light abilities slows motion capture. In the right lighting, there isn't really any blur motion, and the frame rate is sufficient for video capture. If there still is blur motion in great light conditions, perhaps the computer's running too many programs or something intensive. But ordinarily, it just depends on your lighting. I'm using this webcam on a Windows XP computer but I know it works just as well on Macs.

I recently did a stint at the New York Film Academy. In Manhattan they have a building off Union Square and one in the heart of SoHo. They have a video link up using the QuickCam Pro 9000 between the two campuses and you can see people walking around with 0 motion blur, and the school is a solely Mac establishment.

Customer Review: Great Camera

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
I've run this camera on two different platforms and have found it to work extremely well.

On my Windows XP machine, installation was easy and quick. The extra features available from the Logitech software are very nice. I especially enjoy the autotracking feature. I was able to move around and the camera would switch the view to keep me centered in the frame.

Making calls via MSN Messenger Live and Skype were effortless. Sound quality on the built in microphone is excellent.

Then I moved the camera to my Fedora 11, Linux machine. It was automatically detected and worked immediately. I don't have the software for some of the features - but the hardware itself worked flawlessly. The mic picked up sound well and the picture was very clear with good colors. No effort on my part required to get it working - and that's very nice on a platform where vendors don't always create products that will work well.

The design of the camera itself is very nice, much nicer than my lower-end logitech. It is extremely easy to bend the parts to get it to fit various monitors, back of my laptop, etc. This is just a great camera that I've found to be incredibly easy to use.

Customer Review: Can't beat it for the price!
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought my Pro 9000 back in January to use as a weathercam for my private weather station. I send the image to Weather Underground as well as several other weather web sites around the world. I needed something that could handle 24/7/365 use and also be able to deliver a great image of the outdoors and the sky!

Not only has the 9000 exceeded my expectations, its reliability has been very impressive. I know that this camera is not designed to be used for capturing images outdoors, nor intended to be used non-stop 24 hours a day, but it handles both with ease. I am constantly getting emails from people who use my weather station's data for their local weather forecasts complimenting me on how beautiful my webcam image is. I wish I could post an image here for you to see, but Amazon does not allow that.

I am using mine on a Macintosh computer and it works perfectly using the standard Logitech drivers Apple provides in OSX. I control my 9000 with a very cool webcam program for Macintosh called EVOcam. We also have the Mac version that I am using for another project indoors, and I am equally satisfied with that unit's performance.

Bottom line... If you are buying this for a video conferencing/video chat camera, have no fear! Based on my use, you should be VERY happy with the image quality, AND it should last you a lifetime! Not many buyers will have their 9000 running 24/7/365 like my little workhorse does!

Customer Review: Logitech have surpassed perfection !!
Summary: 5 Stars

They have got this one right.. That is for sure...
I had the previous Logitech Pro 5000 and this one beats that one (which is also good) miles away !!

The quality that I have all my family and friends reporting on Skype is just asthonishing.
Because of that, I got a 2nd one and start using it myself during all my trips and I could see the diference from the previous one.

The range of colors is what calls the attention, very good in bringing the true colors of the place you are without have to deal with the controls of it.

The Auto Focus on it is just something to bring the attention to, since you can acctually get close up on stuff that other cameras would not pick up.
I could even show what I had on my monitor to friends and they were able to read it ! (using Skype)

The lens are just great (All sony cybershot's uses the same lens if that tells you anything !!), to which I believe is also the reason for all this image perfecion they have reached with the camera.

And the sound is really good, with eco cancelation and all the bells and whistles.

I mainly use it for web conference, but if you would like to make videos and send them out, that does the job with an A+!!

You will be satisfied with this one, and the price is worht the equipment you are going to get...

That's why I got 2 of those already for my family !
Go for it !
