Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Logitech 2.4 GHz Cordless Presenter (Black)Customer Review: Works with Mac OS 10.4.10 & Keynote Summary: 5 Stars
I've been using the Logitech Cordless Presenter for over a year now with my Mac G4 laptop and OS 10.4.10. It DOES work just fine with Keynote. You can even easily program the F5 button within the Mac's System Preferences, so in Keynote hitting F5 on your remote will launch your slide program....how-to tip is written up here:
[...]
The range is fantastic, I've triggered my laptop from 2 rooms away in my house (through 2 walls) and at a convention center at least 150 feet from the receiver at my laptop. You don't have to point it right at the receiver to get it to work unlike the presenter that came with my projector.
I think the only problem I've had is once accidentally hitting the blank screen button (upper left button) which exits Keynote...just hit F5 again (if you've programmed it on your Mac) and you're back where you were a moment later in your presentation.
I left it on for over a week once and it did not kill the batteries, but I carry extras of course. I agree that an improvement would be an auto-off feature maybe after 24 hours.
Customer Review: What a brilliant design! Summary: 5 Stars
This is a great tool for PowerPoint presentations. It is a very intuitive design. Your thumb easily presses the forward and backwards buttons, and the laser pointer is conveniently positioned in between the two. You have the ability to start the presentation from your hand, and you can black out the screen when necessary (to focus the attention back to you rather than the screen).
The wireless piece to insert into the USB port docks conveniently into the Presenter for storage (no fear of losing it). There is also a soft pouch carrying case to keep the Presenter in pristine condition.
The best feature of all is the built-in timer. Set the timer for the duration of your presentation, and you will have a count down of the remaining time. No need to look at your watch, instead you will appear to have an intuitive sense of good timing! And if you forget to look down, the Presenter vibrates to give you warnings when there are only a few minutes remaining.
Great product! You'll like it a lot!
Customer Review: All you need in one little package Summary: 5 Stars
I bought the Logitech pointer not knowing what to look for in a pointer. When I opened the package, I instantly liked what I saw. The device felt good in the hand and the controls were easily accessible.
In the meantime I have had a chance to compare the Logitech pointer with others and am even happier that I chose device over others. The controls are not jumpy and hyper-sensitive like on other pointers. The laser light is bright and clear and easy to see even in brighter surroundings. The USB stick incorporated in the device is very practical, because you don't have to dig for it, which comes in handy when you only have minutes to switch devices between speakers.
All in all I am very happy to have chosen this little device over others. I have out-performed all others in preparation time and pointing accuracy. It makes a presentation go so much smoother when you don't have to wiggle your device and apologize to your audience that your pointer is not very bright.
You just plug and present.
Customer Review: Does exactly what it says it does, and that is OK Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this to drive a PowerPoint presentation in a large lecture hall. I wanted features to advance, reverse, and blank the screen. This does that. The laser pointer is dandy for entertaining the cats, but I have not figured a need for it in class. Nor do I need the timer. Still, they are both nice features and work easily.
I am running this with another radio device in a USB port, and was worried about frequncy troubles. All worked fine.
I walk the room a great deal during class, and, at least so far, I have not found any range problem (and it is a big room).
I love the size of this thing (small is good) and the buttons are impossible to be confused by (and working by touch takes 10 seconds to get used to).
The only down side is, well, probably having to pay for it. Seriously, if you want a basic presenter, this one works just fine. There are other presenters that have more features. Just make sure what you want is on the device you get.
Customer Review: Great for classroom lectures, and I keep finding other uses Summary: 5 Stars
This presentation remote works wonderfully for me in classroom lectures. My major frustration is that the key bindings are entirely specific to PowerPoint (PageUp, PageDn, period, f5, escape). Although this initially made the product less than optimally useful for me--I present PDF files using acrobat--I wrote up a script using the wonderful AutoHotKey for Windows that turns translates the remote's key presses into ones that work for me. I can now even use the remote to control iTunes playback!
I should note that I was initially skeptical of the timer feature's usefulness. As it turns out, I love the warnings during my lectures. I set it to buzz me just before the midpoint in class; after I feel the buzz, I give the class a five minute break at the next natural break point. I would have been the first to say my watch served me just fine, but it feels so much more natural to look down and see a countdown timer rather than having to do the (easy) subtraction mid-lecture.
