The Livescribe Smartpen is a pen that records your handwriting in sync with an audio track. It is a life changing invention. At meetings, for example, you can write a note while recording the speaker. Upload both the written notes and audio to your computer. You can then locate the audio by tapping on the written note. If your handwriting is very legible, you can even convert it to text. Livescribe Smartpen is an amazing device and something you should investigate.

Livescribe Smartpen uses special paper encoded with millions of microdots. You can print your own if you have the right printer or buy tablets of the special paper. Until now, these tablets were available in standard (approximately) 8.5 x 11 and 6 x 9 sizes which are not the most convenient for total portability.

With the introduction of these approximately 3.5 x 5 pads and the attractive leather binder, Livescribe has brought the special paper down to a truly portable format, perfect for tucking into a shirt or other pocket, purse or what have you. It's the right size and the binder gives just enough support to make writing comfortable.

The Smartpen is controlled largely by touching control panels that are printed on each page and on a special page included with the binder.

Now, the Livescribe Smartpen, for all its good qualities, does have at least one drawback: it is on the bulky side. The case that comes with it does not have a clip and putting both the Smartpen and the Flip Notepad into a shirt pocket is impossible. A somewhat expensive accessory case with a belt clip becomes a necessity.

With the Flip Notepad, the Livescribe Smartpen becomes a complete written and audio note taking system with very high portability. It is really a marvelous device that you'll quickly come to treasure and wonder how you got along without it. The Flip Notepad comes with the binder and four notepads.
