Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Linksys WIP320 Linksys Wireless-G Skype iPhoneCustomer Review: goodbye landline, goodbye sprint, I'm buying a 2nd one for my girlfriend Summary: 5 Stars
I just received the WIP320 Dec 22, 2007. It came with *.16 version of firmware which does not appear to have any serious problems and it also came with a USB cable (unlike previous versions).
After giving the battery an initial overnight charge (10+ hours), I was able to talk for 2.5 hours non-stop without even putting a dent in the charge.
Actually using the phone does not appear to wear down the battery too much.
After that, I drove around for about 45 minutes testing out wireless access points. Scanning for wireless networks also does not appear to wear down the battery very much.
However, letting the phone sit idle still does wear the battery down for some reason. After using the phone, I let it sit for 4 hours connected to my wireless router, and the battery drained down to 50%.
The headphone jack is non-standard, and according to a previous post, you need some special stereo to mono adaptor to use it which I plan on buying at radioshack.
Overall, this phone is awesome. At 119$, it will more than pay for itself in 4 months.
I'm buying a 2nd one for my girlfriend and definitely not renewing my home phone account when it expires.
Customer Review: Linksys WIP320 Wireless SKYPE iphone Summary: 5 Stars
I have used Skype for a number of months on my laptop but had no experience with any wireless iphones before purchasing the WIP320. I received the phone in a matter of just a few days and have been very pleased with my purchase right from the beginning. Once the phone was unpacked and the battery inserted and charged, setup was a breeze. As soon as I turned the phone on easy-to-follow instructions came across the large, brightly lit display. The phone proceeded to pick up the signal from my home wireless network right away. All displayed instructions were easy to understand and setup and usage are both very intuitive and battery performance per charge has been very good. I have had occassion to carry the phone with me on a couple of trips and it generally connects easily to local wi-fi networks that are now available in most larger hotels/motels. It's been very handy having my home phone with me while traveling. From comparison shopping this phone appears to be one of the lower priced Wi-Fi iphone units available but I have been extremely happy with the features and performance it offers.
Customer Review: This phone is incredible Summary: 5 Stars
We have a lot of family all over the world, and this phone frees us up completely from our computer. With WiFi, we can get all our Skype calls anywhere in our home at any time. The only drawback is the battery life, which lets the phone last only 2 days max between charges. Otherwise, we operate it virtually the same as any cell phone.
Without a doubt, the Skype phone has allowed us to keep in touch with people all over the world for virtually free. All our calls are free, and the sound quality is excellent.
This phone doesn't require a base station, and we have been able to take it with us to other people's homes with WiFI, or to cafes with WiFi, anywhere in the world and can make and receive Skype calls in all those places. This is a fantastic option for people who use Skype regularly.
Customer Review: Linksys WIP320 Linksys Wireless-G Skype iPhone Summary: 5 Stars
I had been looking for a Skype phone that did not require a connection to the computer, and the Linksys WIP320 is a perfect fit. This phone can be used without a computer anywhere there is an open wi-fi network or a network for which the user has access privilege. It is an excellent quality product as we have come to expect from Cisco/Linksys, who are by the way, world leaders in IP telephony. This phone charges by a USB port or from the included wall charger. It allows the user to input their Skype account details, which are saved, as are the details of networks to which the phone connects. The sound quality is good, but there is no volume control, which is a surprising oversight. All in all, however, this is an excellent product which is now available at a reasonable price.
Customer Review: Good phone Great price Summary: 5 Stars
This phone works as well as I expected. The firmware update is a MUST!!! But once it is installed, it was smooth sailing. $89.00 is the low end of these types of phones, but I think the phone works very well for the price. A tiny delay is slightly noticable, but not enough to be that bothersome. I've used it at work, at home, at wireless hot spots, and have had no problems. The only thing that I wish that was possible was to be able to use this phone at hot spots that require a browser authentication.
battey life seems good to me 2+ hrs of talk time, and 2+ days of standby time.
Great product.
