Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Linksys WGA11B Wireless-B Game AdapterCustomer Review: It works Summary: 5 StarsI purchased a refurbished WGA11b to get my Xbox 360 connected to my wireless network (Belkin 802.11g router). I connected this to my laptop through the ethernet port (I did have to switch the WGA11b to crossover mode and disable the wireless adapter on my laptop to get my laptop to see it, but that wasn't difficult...it might be handy to have that information in the manual though, and it is the only negative thing I have to say about it, and that's more about the manual instead of the device). The wizard is pretty simple, and once it found the adapter it was very easy for me to enter in my WEP key and select the profile on the adapter. The thing immediately connected as soon as I selected P1 and I was able to browse the internet to test it. I then unplugged the cable from my laptop and hooked it up to my Xbox 360 and it immediately logged me into Xbox Live. I downloaded 2 1 gb demos in an hour or 2, which is acceptable to me.
I can't wait to test out some multiplayer games with it to see if there is any latency. If I can edit this or comment on it, I will come back and post my results.
Edit:
The game adapter occasionally would lose connection with my router and need to be unplugged and plugged back in, and was slightly slower downloading demos and games than I had hoped in the long run. I ended up having my brother run a cable through the ceiling from my office to the living room so I could plug the 360 directly into the router and it cost me even less in parts than this wireless adapter, though I would still say this adapter can do the job if you can't/don't want to go through the hassle of having cables run.
Customer Review: Phenominal ! Summary: 5 StarsI bought this product about a week ago, and I find that it is a perfect solution for wirelessly connecting my xbox to my router. However, moderate networking skills are required. You'll have to have DHCP enabled, Make sure your SSID boadcast is on, and know how to allow mac addresses using the wireless client filter. I had a little confusion with the controls on the unit. I thought there was a seperate switch for adhoc and infastructure mode, but I quickly found out that selecting channels 1-11 automatically put you in adhoc mode, In was for infastructure mode with no security, and P1-P3 was for Infastructure mode with security. It worked perfectly once I figured everything out. Much better product than other option considering its very low price.
Customer Review: worked for my 360 with an actiontec router + Wep protection Summary: 5 StarsI was a little worried that i would have some problems from the other reviews. I get the item and i pop in the disk. It asks for SSID and i type the name of my router. Then it asked for wep and i typed that in as well. I get connection failed so im kinda upset. Then i remember in one of the posts "thanks sooooooo much". It says u press the blue button till it says P1. So I do that an WABAM!! Dxxxxxxx has connected to xbox live!!! WOOO. So i payed 25 bucks instead of 90 and I get the same connection. I have 5mbps internet and this allows for 10mbps so its fine. I love it and thanks lynksis for making this fantastic product!!!
Customer Review: 360 Compatible, WEP and easy to setup!!! Summary: 5 StarsGreat alternative to the MS and other high priced adapters. If you use WEP, it must be setup with within a profile (P1, P2 or P3)
Customer Review: Linksys Summary: 5 StarsI use this for my PS2, my computer is in an upstairs room and my PS2 is in the basement. I am not a computer savy person, however this took a few minutes to hook up and works good. One thing I don't like is that every week or so I have to un plug it and allow it to reset it's self or my PS2 won't log on. Over all a great product and not very expensive either.
