Never before have I enjoyed such a robust signal. Nothing stops it, I have fast and flawless wireless connection 100% of the time. If you're getting a poor signal for any reason I highly recommend this set.
My router is placed very unfortunately rather far away and right next to the fridge which blocks my signal, and it gets bumped around frequently throughout the day. The roommates are a pain and I can't convice them to move it so I'd been having trouble getting a good signal for a long time, tried a lot of messing around with antennae placement and different channels etc... Nothing worked. The signal was so shaky my connection would go in and out, it was impossible to use.
Since installing this thing my connection strength has never dropped below 90% even when the guys upstairs are throwing the router around or burying it behind pots and pans, it's in the kitchen, I couldn't be happier. The antenna has a decent lenght of wire so you can put it where you want it, and the stout three collumn structure allows it to sit confidantly on uneven surfaces, or near other stuff without getting in the way or falling over.
I did read beforehand about the software that comes with it. I didn't actually try using the software; I went straight to following everyone's advice and installing just the drivers so that windows will configure my network. This is a simple enough process and it's something people might do with any card just as a personal preference anyways so I don't consider it to be a fault worth worrying about.
Description of Cisco-Linksys Wireless-N PCI Adapter WMP300N
The Linksys Wireless-N PCI Adapter installs in most desktop and tower PCs, and lets you put your computer almost anywhere in the building without the cost and hassle of running network cables. Now you don't have to drill holes in your walls and climb through the attic or cellar to get connected to the network. The Wireless-N PCI Adapter uses the very latest wireless networking technology, Wireless-N (draft 802.11n). By overlaying the signals of multiple radios, Wireless-N's "Multiple In, Multiple Out" (MIMO) technology multiplies the effective data rate. Unlike ordinary wireless networking technologies that are confused by signal reflections, MIMO actually uses these reflections to increase the range and reduce "dead spots" in the wireless coverage area. The robust signal travels farther, maintaining wireless connections up to 4 times farther than standard Wireless-G. With Wireless-N, the farther away you are, the more speed advantage you get. It works great with standard Wireless-G and -B equipment, but when both ends of the wireless link are Wireless-N, the throughput can be increased even more by using twice as much radio band, yielding speeds up to 12 times as fast as standard Wireless-G. Once you're connected, you can surf the web, keep in touch with your e-mail, and share files and other resources such as printers and network storage with other computers on the network. To protect your data and privacy, your wireless connection is secured by up to 256-bit WPA2 encryption.
