Customer Review: Works great - Setup is interesting
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this device after trying a Buffalo repeater that I read about in Computer Shopper. Was not compatible with the Linksys router and ethernet bridge - different chip sets. Too bad they don't tell you that.

So, I read the reviews on various web sites. This was my only option unless I wanted to spend my computing time holding my laptop over my head in an attempt to enhance my signal.

This thing works great. Great signal where I needed it.

The setup. Read the directions plugged the thing in in the living room and inserted the disk. It could not locate the repeater in the loop.

So, I took the repeater upstairs and plugged in in 3 feet from the router. Accessed the web page and started right up. Only thing I have had to do is make sure the TCP/ICP properties' addresses were correct.

Maybe I was lucky but this worked for me. But from some of the other reviews - Good luck with the setup!

Customer Review: Great Product. I plan to buy another.

I was looking at a booster, and read everything I could before I bought one. I was hoping it would work out because returning things is such a hastle! Lucky for me, I picked a good one, and it's a keeper!
I live in an old house, with THICK WALLS and it was hard to get a signal anywhere other than right in the room where the wireless is... now I am 4 rooms away, and my computer says "excellent" and works much faster... before it said VERY LOW. This is great! I bought this product, really because I bought a Roku box, that thing from Netflix, and the connection would NOT reach it... this is a wonderful boost, and now my son can watch DORA episodes any time he wants, and it hardly ever reconnects. Some times I have to unplug the product from the wall and plug it back in... "reset" but only twice and I have had it a few months. It's great! EASY to setup, and EASY to place. I want another one for the other side of the house.

Customer Review: Works great! For those with experience...

This is an older version of the Linksys WRE65G (v1.0 I think). It has very basic features and it's a bit difficult to set up if you don't know exactly how wi-fi works, and how this little thing is suppose to work. The setup program is hit-n-miss, but it can be configured manually. You only need to connect to its config page via 192.168.1.240 and enter the MAC address of the router you're trying to connect to. There are various ways to get that.

It works best with a Linksys router, and it will attempt to automatically configure itself with one if it finds one (If your neighbor has an unsecured Linksys but you don't, whoops!). I've been using it for a month now and it works great now that I know how to configure it myself. If you can find a newer version of this device, I would recommend it for the more inexperienced users, but I bought this one for $25, and I couldn't beat that price. :)

Customer Review: I love it.

I've struggled to get my wireless G network to reach from the router in my livingroom to a metal building about 100 feet away. It's our business and we are setting up an office for me upstairs in this building. I've read forums, called and e-mailed professionals with quite an array of answers. When I saw the range extender was for sale I bought one right away. The first night was a nightmare. I updated the router's firmware, I tried configuring the extender and the network went down. I gave up and went to bed. It was up and running in the morning? Don't know why. I walked around with my laptop and tried putting the extender in quite a few different places. Without the extender I could get almost no signal right in the window of the building. I put the extender in that window with excellent results upstairs in the building and all over the house. I get perfect signal strength.

Customer Review: It Expands Your Wireless Range, Just Like It is Supposed to
Summary: 5 Stars

I have a WRT54G wireless router in my home but unfortunately it was not covering all the rooms where my family members needed wireless access. I tried the Linksys high-gain antennas (don't waste your $$$ or money) and the Hawkings Technology antennas (worked ok but doesn't improve signal that much). With these options exausted I turned to the Linksys Range Expander (WRE54G) and it seems to have done the trick.

I was worried about the setup since many peoples' reviews stated difficulty in setting up the expander. I honestly had no problem setting up the device. I plugged the range expander into the router then pressed auto-configuration and it was all set. Setup time is a max of 15 min.

Summary: The expander works well and does improve signal strength to areas that were otherwise unreachable. The setup is simple and max time to be up and running is 15 min.
