Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Cisco-Linksys WUSB600N Dual-Band Wireless-N USB Network AdapterCustomer Review: Perfect with WIN 7 32-Bit Summary: 5 Stars
I installed this (V2) on two machines, both WIN 7 32-bit. One a 6yr old P4 and the other a 2yr old Quad-core. The P4 is Dual Boot XP/Win7, but I did not install in XP. WIN7 could not find a driver, so I installed with the LINKSYS disk. It took about 5 minutes and installed perfectly with excellent signal strength. No secret there, my router, a WRT54G is only about 12ft away. I left this adapter on the Quad and transferred my WUSB54GC to the P4, WIN7 picked up the 54.
Nowhere on my adapter's packaging does it mention Windows 7 compatibilty, either 32 or 64. VISTA yes. Just because it is certified for VISTA does not make it automatically WIN 7 compatible. If people buy it for WIN7 under the assumption that it should work because 7 is similar to VISTA, they are wrong. I made no such assumption, I just took the chance and won. Most of my hardware/software has migrated well from XP and VISTA, maybe my equipment has a more friendly environment. However, if anything goes wrong later, I will report it.
Customer Review: Excellent! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought one of these in December '08 to upgrade a PC in my house with "n" speed to connect with my new Apple Airport Extreme Base Station (AEBS). I installed the drivers and software on the PC and it fired right up and connected to the WPA/WPA2 encrypted network (after inputting the password, of course). I have a second PC in the house that I can't get to connect, with encryption, to the network, after much time spent on trying to do so. So I am buying a second one as I know it will work seemlessly as the first one did/does. The range is great, as is the speed, using this adapter and AEBS with "n" speed. I would highly recommend this adapter if you are trying to wirelessly connect your PC to an AEBS! I'm a recently converted PC - to - Mac person, so I would actually recommend that you throw your PC away (oh, excuse me - recycle it), and get a Mac!! Everything is so much easier, simpler, and more intuitive!
Customer Review: Very pleased with this product Summary: 5 Stars
Just moved into the wireless networking environment at home after years of using DSL internet. Got the WUSB600N (v2) adapter for my home desktop computer which is running Windows 7 Professional 32-bit. It consistently picks up the signal from my wireless router (Cisco E4200) with excellent signal strength, even though the router is downstairs in a different room and my desktop computer (Dell Inspiron 530) is upstairs. Right after I ordered the product, I noticed that Cisco's website recommended the newer AE1000 adapter for desktop computers, and I was a bit concerned that I'd purchased an out-of-date product. But my worries were groundless. The WUSB600N v2 works just great. I did need to download and install the newest driver (3.0.10.0) in order to prevent the connection from being interrupted when my computer would wake from sleep mode. But since then, I have not had a single problem.
Customer Review: WUSB600N Works Fine Summary: 5 Stars
Bought the WUSB600N adapter as a replacement to a G level adapter (also Linksys) because the G adapter did not have WPA2 security. So much for backwards compatibility, as the router I used back then - a G level from Linksys - did have WPA2 security. With this purchase, our entire network is on N and hopefully will eliminate any compatibility issues.
The adapter arrived today and we set it up this evening. Just a few minor hitches as the computer the adapter would be attached to has had some problems lately (a 6 yr old computer running XP Pro). However, once it was set up, everything worked fine. Set up file sharing with Network Magic software without a hitch.
So far, no complaints. Will update this review if anything unusual happens.
Sorry about no stars for Win7 64 as all of our computers are 32 bit and none are Win7.
Customer Review: Awesome Summary: 5 Stars
i have been using this product with my 3yr+ desktop for about a month and i have been impressed all the way. installation was quick and painless. it connects to my WRT160N and 270Mbps at about 15m none line-of-sight and it even sees over 5 other wireless networks around me, most of which are wireless G and over 30m away. i can only use the 2.4Ghz frequency cause that's all my WRT160N can do and i just hate that my installed easylink advisor software did not allow the bundled WUSB600N software to install, it only just allowed the usb driver. all the same, this adapter works great and i'm suprised some customers are having problem with it, they really shouldn't be having any problems
