Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Cisco-Linksys WUSB54GC Compact Wireless-G USB AdapterCustomer Review: Wireless can be a nightmare, this device works as promised, superb! Summary: 5 Stars
Having struggled through a wide range of routers and wireless card devices, all of which were either difficult to setup, extremely difficult to configure, and unreliable (a major brand router which literally "fried" itself in the first 48 hours), this simple little Linksys device seemed almost too good to be true. Since I have both PC's and Mac's I can say that with the exception of the apple devices (airport and airport extreme) this is the only piece of wireless hardware that has actually worked for me out of the box and just as simply as the enclosed software promised. My set-up time was literally 45 seconds (mostly waiting for the device to establish communication with the router for the first time)! In a world of wireless-not-quite-ready-for-primetime products, this one works!! (I'm connected to an Apple Airport, fyi for Mac fans. Totally compatable).
Customer Review: Save your time, buy this one first! Summary: 5 Stars
I am an Apple person, so I had serious reservations about getting the Dell PC Desktop given to my wife by my son-in-law connected to my wireless network. I bought the Belkin F5D7050 USB and after an hour I gave up, couldn't even get the damn thing connected via hardwire. A friend who has worked for years as an IT person, spent over 2 hrs. trying to get a wireless connection without success. He did manage to get a wired connection working. Took the Belkin back and bought the Linksys WUSB54GC. With the same trepidation, I put the install disk in, click on the continue button, plugged in the unit to the USB and my network wireless showed up, clicked on it and AMAZING!!! It worked--no problem...just like an Apple computer! And the included extender usb cord makes connecting to the back of the CPU a breeze!
Customer Review: Product delivers despite of...... Summary: 5 Stars
Having used Linksys(now cisco)products for awhile now,I have not been disappointed with them and this product continues that streak. My largest concern was not with the product itself, but with the fact that I expected the version that was displayed of this model when I purchased it, to be sent to me and it was not. Instead I was sent the version 4 of this product which happened to work for me anyhow so I did not send it back. With Linksys not supporting Linux, the version numbers can make an big difference. I would recommend for short range use and for linux OS (ubuntu 10)as that is how I use this product.
Customer Review: Works fine. Not as bad as others make it out to be. (XP SP2; XP SP3) Summary: 5 Stars
Just bought this for my desktop running over wireless. Took less than three minutes to set up initially and had it working fine on Windows XP (SP2). There used to be a problem with Windows FUS, but apparently that's been resolved; I had no problems.
Just upgraded to Service Pack 3, and I'm having more problems with Windows XP than the wireless connection. There is a slight annoyance with this file that keeps erroring out, but again, I think that has to do more with SP3 than anything else. Even with the error, my wireless is working just fine.
Customer Review: WUSB54GC Wreless -G USB Adapter Summary: 5 Stars
Two words come to mind, " very pleased " . This is the 2'nd one I've purchased as I needed to have a third computer online. We now have 1 wired and 2 in remote places in the house. It is far better than having wires strewn everywhere and performs flawlessly. If you have teenagers who need a computer connection for homework and such , this is far better than paying the cable co. or telephone people to come and add another line. Combine it with your cable modem or a WRT54G router and you are in business.
