Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Cisco-Linksys WET54G Wireless-G Ethernet BridgeCustomer Review: It does just what it claims and does it well! Summary: 5 Stars
I am using this bridge as a wireless bridge from my wired network in one room of the house to connect to my WRT54G wireless router in another room. It works perfectly. I have 1 computer and 2 printers connected to a D-Link DGS-2208 Gigibit Switch which is connected to the WET54G Wireless Bridge which is connected WIRELESSLY to the WRT54G router. That's right, no wired connection between the wired network in one room and the internet which is from the WRT54G router/modem/switch in another part of the house. My wife's laptop connects wirelessly to the home network through the WRT54G and is able to print to either of the two installed printers and we can share files between my computer on the wired network and hers wirelessly through the WET54G and the WRT54G. If you need to connect your wired network to the outside world and don't want to run wires all over the house then this is your answer!
Customer Review: Works great, after I figured out how to set it up Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this item to connect a Brother 420CN all-in-one
to my wireless network. The printer has a built-in wired
print server.
The only problem I had with it was when I set it up using
a laptop. I was unable to detect the bridge until I manually
set the IP address of the laptop's ethernet port to be on
the same subnet (192.168.1.xxx) as the default on
the bridge. My pre-existing network is a D-Link which uses
192.168.0.xxx). Once I made this change, setup took about
a minute, and the bridge has worked fine since then.
The range is fine. My router is in my basement and the bridge
is on the second floor, with no connection problems
at all. The thing is a little expensive for what it is, but
it does what it's supposed to do.
Customer Review: Works for me, now I have a wireless network printer Summary: 5 Stars
I was hesitant to buy this at first after seeing so many bad reviews at this site from customers who haven't been able to make things work. But I got mine to work on the second try just by following the (admittedly very brief) instructions.
Thanks to this bridge I now have a wireless network printer tucked away in an out-of sight closet. I just plugged in the (very inexpensive) network-ready Brother 5250DN printer into the WET54G and the router assigned it a new IP address dynamically. Now I can print directly to a printer in the closet from any PC on the network.
My only complaint is price. I don't understand why I can buy a Linksys WRT54G wireless router with 4 wired ports for only $55 on Amazon but I have to pay almost 30 dollars more for a simple bridge from the same company.
Customer Review: Linksys Wireless Bridge Summary: 5 Stars
Hookup was easy. Setup was more complicated than it should have been. Most
all other adapters etc. will find all available ssid systems and give you
a choice of which to choose. In this case the default ssid was set to
Linksys. The Linksys access point default ssid is set to linksys. See the
difference? "linksys...Linksys" the ssid is case sensitive. That held me
up for a few hours. If you don't know what to look for it is like trying
to find a needle in a haystack. Would not have been a problem except my
eyesight is not to well these days. Outside of that, no problem. Works fine
and does what it is supposed to. My HD-DVD player can connect and download
the latest firmware and access internet content with the HDDVD features.
Customer Review: Using WET54G for "BD Live" Feature with Sony Blu-ray Disc Player Summary: 5 Stars
This is definitely the product to have for using the "BD Live" feature of your Sony Blu-ray player, which requires an internet connection to the player. It is likely that you will not be able to get the wireless bridge programmed correctly with the installation disc that comes with the WET54G. No problem. Just call Linksys tech support and they will guide you through the installation with no fee. This may take an hour, but then you're done. Be aware that in order to use "BD Live", the disc you buy or rent must have "BD-Live" bonus material as distinguished from bonus material embedded in the disc. NOT ALL BLU-RAY DISCS HAVE THE "BD LIVE" FEATIRE. Be sure to look on the disc box for "BD Live".
