Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Cisco-Linksys USB200M EtherFast USB 2.0 10/100 Network AdapterCustomer Review: Perfect Solution Summary: 5 Stars
Pefect for adding an older Windows 98 PC without a 10/100 port to a network with virtually no effort.
Customer Review: Not Perfect, but not as bad... Summary: 4 Stars
I got this for the sole purpose of connecting my Tivo to the network so I could take advantage of Tivo ToGo. The online reviews were the only thing that made me a little shakey about this, however, it is one of only two adapters currently said to be comapatible by Tivo.
I have to say that I have no problems with it whatsoever. Although the door is a bit weak, it is no where near as bad as some of these reviews. Plugging the ethernet into it took a bit of wiggling, but it isn't going anywhere. I've been using it to transfer things to my computer with out problems.
Basically, unless you plan on throwing the thing around before hooking it up, it works perfectly. Connection with TiVo couldn't have been easier, and is small and stays out of the way.
Customer Review: Horrible design, but seems to work fine. Summary: 4 Stars
Like most people interested in this, I bought one for my Tivo (a Humax branded 590 series).
The design really is TERRIBLE. The door is unbelievably flimsy, and the Ethernet cable doesn't really feel like it makes a good connection (like they do with every other Ethernet port on Earth).
That said, I've owned it for 5 months now, disconnected it a few times, and so far it's worked perfectly. It was completely plug and play, and I haven't had a single network issue with my Tivo.
I think you'll probably be fine with it as long as you connect it once (VERY CAREFULLY) and just leave it hooked up. Ideally Linksys should release the same hardware in a more "normal" design with a full blown Ethernet port.
Customer Review: Mine works fine with Tivo Series2 Summary: 4 Stars
Dispite seeing many reviews on here that said this product does not work with Series2, I decided to buy it based on a few success stories, and the fact that Tivo recommends this one. It looks like the March update fixed it. Mine is working just fine. The Tivo detected it, and all is well.
I see what many of the other reviewers mean about the cheap design. If I were unplugging and replugging this thing often, I am sure the little door would break off. But since its going to be sitting on the back of the Tivo for ages, it really does not matter.
I would not buy this product for use on a laptop or other portable device. But for the Tivo it seems to fit my needs.
Customer Review: Good for TIVO Summary: 4 Stars
First, I am reviewing this for fixed usage with a Tivo and not as a mobile device. This is a valid review because there aren't many wired adapters supported for Tivo. I read the reviews about the cheesy door. They are absolutely true. However; the device came with a USB extension cord. Using this, the device did not jut out the back of the Tivo, it kind of hung down. Then I used packing tape to secure the Ethernet cable into the door. I do not think the door will ever break nor do I think the plug will fall out. As a cheap way to network your Tivo without the issues of wireless, this can't be beat. I would not buy this as a mobile device.
