Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Cisco-Linksys EZXS55W EtherFast 10/100 5-Port Workgroup SwitchCustomer Review: Excellent Little Switch - Does What it's Designed For! Summary: 5 Stars
This switch does exactly what it's designed for, sharing an Ethernet connnection. Don't expect to be able to configure VLANs, multilayer switching, VLAN trunks, load balancing, etc. This does not have any routing, NAT, or firewall capabilities. You would use this switch when you already have a router between your internal network and the Internet, and you need additional Ethernet ports. This gives you a full duplex Ethernet connection at wired speed, and it delivers! Perfect for the home office/LAN or for technicians needing extra Etherenet ports for their workbench, as this is what I use mine for. Thanks for reading! Hope this helps!
Customer Review: An awesome, convenient little ethernet switch Summary: 5 Stars
I have two of these Linksys switches on my home network. They are inexpensive, well constructed, and conveniently small. They have really fast throughput, and I've never once had a problem with them--you just plug them in and they work.Be aware that these switches are a different form factor from the other Linksys home networking products--it's smaller and doesn't stack with, for example, the Linksys router/switch combo boxes. This isn't a problem for me personally, but it's certainly hard to tell from the picture. My only form factor complaint is that there isn't a built in way to mount this on a wall or on the side of a desk.
Customer Review: Great for better printer placement Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased the Worgroup Switch because I wanted everyone on my home network to be able to use my network-ready All-in-one graphic printer, yet I wanted it next to my machine in the basement. Instead of running another long cable from my router on my second floor, I added the switch near my basement computer and attached the original network cable from my computer to the Workgroup Switch and then added my computer and the printer with short cables to the Workgroup Switch. There were no software modifications required.
I've noticed no slowdown on the network and I'm very happy with the solution.
Customer Review: Cheap, small, easy to set up, and it does what it needs to. Summary: 5 Stars
I got this in the mail yesterday, opened it up, connected my ethernet cables, plugged it in, and I was instantly hooked up to my internet.
I got this so I wouldn't have to swap out the ethernet cable between my 360 and PS3 when I wanted to play online (personal choice to keep wired over wireless b/c I think performance is better wired). So, I got this and as described above I set it up and it works flawlessly. Both connected right away to the internet and I can have both connected and downloading stuff at the same time should I want.
Highly recommended.
Customer Review: Works As Expected, Inexpensive Solution! Recommended Summary: 5 Stars
The "Linksys EZXS55W EtherFast 10/100 5-Port Workgroup Switch" is a fairly simple device that allows for the easy expansion of your existing network.
This switch connects to your router and gives you an extra 5-ports to connect other devices to the network. The devices can all have different duplex/speed settings and they will work fine.
This switch is very inexpensive, costing about the same as a simple hub. It was simple to set up, taking less than 10 minutes, and has never given me any problems.
