I have a MACBook Pro and needed extra space and this drive has been a great add on to my Laptop. It has the speed and capacity to allow me to work on large video and photo files, it also linked up with no issues with Time Machine.. This drive works really well so far. It offers every possible connection except eSata, so it's very fast and very versatile. The drive is about a month old, but like all drives it will eventually fail, it just depends on how long it lasts. I needed a good high-capacity hard drive when I am doing photography. Something to dump my cards on to and keep shooting but yet would not take too much space or require extra cables/connections. I buy lacie rugged for ten years. they never fail, just run out of capacities. It is a nice collection of indestructible hard drives. The orange color is not that stupid. I received the product, took it out of the box, connected the FireWire 800 to the MacBook Pro, received a message about installing, did the quick format to Mac, put my Windows-XP virtual image on the drive, and was up and running in 30 minutes.
I love this drive!
