My old Sony VAIO was on its last leg. I started to buy a new laptop when my son suggested that I buy an external hard drive instead. I didn't want the "hassle" of doing that, but he importuned, so I did. I set aside 2 hours to read the manual, go through a tutorial, etc. I opened the box, inserted the CD, and I was done in about 10 minutes. It is very durable and portable as well.Customer Review: Works Great.... After I reformatted it.

OK so I orded on of these a while back and love it.
It's fast, not noisy, and I don't feel like I could crush it in my hands.
I wouldn't suggest using the program it comes with. I just used my disk utility and erased the drive and reformatted it. That is why I gave 2 stars on ease of use. but after you format it it's all plaug and play from there. :)

The price is good for the amount of GB you get. The speed with USB or firewire is perfect! No sound at all, really smooth when it's On. Only minor complain will be the size, which doesn't really matter when you compare them with the 80GB disk...which is less than 20% of that capacity you get with the Lacie Rugged. i purchased this drive for video editing/media storage while traveling overseas. it's very light-weight, compact and powers itself from the laptop, so no ac adaptor is needed. i have used LaCie drives for several years now and find they are very reliable. this model is easy to use, has a lot of space and comes with a nice variety of firewire cables. i love it!Customer Review: Best hard drive I've ever bought

If you want to buy a hard drive, this is it. I keep all my stuff there and I know they're going to be safe. One of the best things it can do is transfer huge files FAST. It's worth the money. It could be a little bulky and bigger than other hard drives but it's for a reason and I don't mind the bulkiness as long as it's giving me everything else I need.
