Customer Review: Worth The Wait

So the time came when I needed another external hard drive. I had bought a LaCie 4 years ago, at nearly full retail price from the company that made my computer, and have been nothing but pleased. A 160GB small silver drive. It's still running strong. But back then 160GB was a huge amount to me, I never thought I'd need anything more...until now.
My search started here and I admit I was taken with the Toshiba 500GB slim hard drive. You know the cute one with the pretty blue design on the top. But after reading so many reviews about how it was more trouble that it was worth I couldn't in good conscience make the purchase. Time was ticking and after sitting on it I searched again and found this drive. LaCie, a brand I trust...check. Already NTFS formatted...check. Easy setup...check. Stylish design...check. Right price for the GB size and I could use my Amazon gift card to pay for half of it....check. So I made the purchase.
Only problem was Amazon was temporarily out of stock. I took this as a good sign, people saw a good value when it was put in front of them and I didn't cancel the order. And waited. It took over half a month for me to receive the drive but I love it so far. I thought my first drive was easy to install but a little kid could set this one up. Granted I've got both my external drives on the bottom shelf of my computer desk, next to the tower so its super simple to hook it all up; but I don't understand why people complain about cord lengths and such. If you're not close to outlets you have to have some kind of surge protector/extension cord anyway. The power cord is much longer than the USB cable. But when you've got one that long, it should all work. I don't think companies should need to accommodate the few that think they should be able to use this on their water bed LOL
I will be leaving it on 24/7 for several months to make sure it passes the test of being fully functional and secure. To be safe, and I'd recommend this to everyone, I'm still keeping all my irreplaceable files on my trusted 4 year old LaCie and putting everything else on the new one.
So far I'd recommend this drive to everyone, especially if you've got Windows. Super simple, super easy, super stylish. If I had the cash I probably would have sprung for one with even more file space.
