Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Logitech V220 Cordless Optical Mouse for Notebooks (Dark Silver)Customer Review: Excellent mouse, great price. Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this mouse for my laptop and love it. It is a little bigger than the smallest laptop mice available, but it still fits into one of the internal pockets of my Dell laptop case. Although the base footprint is only about two inches wide by three and a half inches long, like most mice, this one has a lot of sculpted edges and protruding curves (if curves can protrude) so the extreme measurements are: one and a half inches at the highest point (basically the palm rest), two and three sixteenths inches at the widest point (across the top thru the center of the scroll wheel) and three and three quarters inches long. One feature I like is that the mouse turns on and off when you slide the mini USB plug in or out of the base holder respectively, thus extending battery life. You can also leave the USB plug detached and flip the on/off switch on the bottom of the mouse with a fingertip. What I don't particularly like is that the USB plug, when cradled in the bottom, adds to the overall height of the mouse and prevents it from sitting flat. Not a big issue for storing the mouse since you can flip the mouse switch to off and store the USB plug separately, like I do. Software downloads are online, but I didn't even bother with it. I just used the Windows drivers. I have had no problems with the operation (plugged and played), works great and the price was decent.
Customer Review: This Little Beauty Works a Treat Summary: 5 Stars
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
This little mouse is almost too responsive for my mac. After I downloaded the software from Logitech's site and plugged in the dongle I was ready for the wireless experience, but I wasn't quite ready for the speed. The pointer zipped across my screen seemingly at the speed of sound, no make that the speed of light. I went right into my system file and slowed that baby down as slow as it could go and still it's faster across the screen than the corded Apple mouse that came with my iMac.
Also it took me a couple three days to get used to the feel of this little beauty. And having lived in the Mac world so long, I'd forgotten all about the right click business, boy is that ever neat. With the Apple mouse it seemed like I always had my index finger curled up ready to click. With the Logitech mouse I have my index and middle finger laying over the top, I suppose like the designer's intended. This took a little getting used to, but now it's ingrained. I don't think I can go back. Plus the scroll wheel works a treat. This is a great mouse, Logitech you have my vote here.
Customer Review: Working great Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased the Logitech V220 notebook mouse a few weeks after buying my new notebook for college. I'm pleased with its performance so far; I've had it about one month.
The battery life is listed at 6 months, with regular usage. The mouse includes a useful on/off feature, however, which is manual or automatically done by inserting the USB receiver in the bottom of the mouse.
I was happy that the mouse included a AA battery, despite not listing this on the packaging. The battery life light, located on top, glows green for just a few seconds after turning the mouse on. Another useful feature, which I appreciate.
For ergonomics, know that this mouse is rather small, due to it being a notebook mouse. Dimensions are roughly 2.5-3 inches long, 1.5-2 inches wide, 1 inch tall. It fits my hand well, and I'm 6 feet tall with larger sized hands. The clicks are responsive, as is the scroll wheel, both forward/backward and side-to-side.
Software for the mouse can be obtained from [..]. The software (Logitech Setpoint) allows customization a bit further, such as mouse speed, left/right click settings, middle click settings, among other features.
Overall a great mouse, very accurate and with long lasting battery life (afaict).
Customer Review: Logitech V220 A good mousie Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased the Logitech V220 as an accompaniment to my new Samsung NC10-14GW 10.2-Inch Netbook (1.6 GHz Intel Atom Processor, 1 GB RAM, 160 GB Hard Drive, 6 Cell Battery, XP Home) White. I got it because of it's compact design (for travel)and ergonomic shape, plus it looks cool too. The features I like about it, besides the aforementioned, are the scroll wheel (which also scrolls left/right and has a zoom feature), the downloadable software to personalize the mouse, the USB attachment that slides onto the back of the mouse for easy storage, and because it only takes one AA battery AND has an ON/OFF switch.
The zoom feature is good if you have a smaller screened netbook like mine (10.2"), although it doesn't work on all webpages for a reason I'm not sure of. It works by depressing the scroll wheel and spinning it forward or backward to zoom in or out, simple as that. As for the battery, I've only had the mouse for about 2 weeks and use it about 80% of the time that I use my netbook, so I'm not sure how long the it actually lasts. The only thing I don't like about it so far, is that I most always forget to turn it off when I'm not using it. =]
Customer Review: Super Mouse for My Use Summary: 5 Stars
I bought my first one of these mice probably a couple of years ago. I lost it at a meeting in a motel, and soon when out and replaced it with another V220.
I now own three of these little rodents and would be lost without them. One stays plugged into my docking station at all times, one goes on the road with me, and one (the pink one) is my wife's. I find them to be very comfortable, quiet enough for me, having excellent tactile feel, just the right size, durable, and having a long battery life. I've been banging one around in my backpack for over a year with no problems and am of the opinion it is very durable.
The only negative I can dream up is the size of the receiver. It sticks out from the USB port an inch or two, and can be bumped against if you are carrying your laptop around. I have never had a problem with it, but I know there are mice with smaller receivers out there. I wouldn't change my decision to purchase this mouse based on that little drawback, though.
I will wrap up with my opinion that Logitech mice are top of the line, and having owned close to a dozen in a variety of models, I don't even consider another brand when the time comes to replace one.
Jim
