Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Koss SPARKPLUG - Stereo In Ear Ear PlugsCustomer Review: Awesome! Good Value, Great Sound! Summary: 5 Stars
I ordered this online because my ears do not accept the standard earbuds, which I gave to someone who had thos large battery consuming 80's headphones on their iPod, they were happy to get the Creative earbuds. The sparkplug by Koss is great. I bought a set of studio quality Koss headphones in 1993 so I knew the name brand. I'm glad they didnt turn out to be another china-man special, they are awesome! I saw them in J&R in NYC and bought a set then my order showed up and I had 2! After they get dirty I switch to the new ones and plan to buy more! The extra earpieces are nice, but they would last forever I think. That they can come off is nice but sometimes the foam has come off in my pocket because of keys and other things, thats to be expected. If the plastic used in the wire was slightly stiffer to prevent tangling it would be even better. Sound is really good, they block most outside noise perfectly, they are durable and dont break or tear easily. Both of mine are still in perfect working order after over 100 hours of use on the NYC subway system.
Customer Review: Great headphones for the price. Summary: 5 Stars
I wanted a new ear buds to replace my current ear buds. My ears are small so most ear buds hurts my ears after a few minutes. I wanted something small to carry with my PSP (so no regular headphones) and for it to be comfortable. So I decided to give the Koss Spark Plug a try. Well I just got them and I must say I like them. This is the ONLY ear buds that don't hurt my ears after a few minutes. It's very comfortable and it stays in place.
Like the others I found the Spark Plug to be bass heavy. I like bass but I never heard so much bass from ear buds. I did the same mod as the others. I put masking tape over the holes. Now it sounds more balance. Good bass, mid, and highs. It sounds better than my Panasonic and Sony PSP ear buds. It does a really good job of blocking outside noise as well. It's so good that I can't even hear my cell phone ring (and it sitting right next to me).
Overall I'm glad I bought the Koss Spark Plug. Now my ears don't hurt and it sounds good. What more can you ask for. For this price it's a steal.
Customer Review: Best value ear buds Summary: 5 Stars
These sparkplugs are the best value in ear buds for about twelve bucks or so.
I do the trick of covering up the holes with a little circle of clear adhesive tape and the sound compares to any buds or mini-headphones I've tried. The spongy rubbery covers are VERY comfortable and do a great job of blocking out noise on an airplane or in the subway and you get two sizes.
Koss will replace them if damaged for a fee if you mail them in; they've replaced mine three times over the years and been very nice about it when I've called, great customer service. However, I keep a spare pair because I can't stand to be without them for even a week, I went through that the first time I had them replaced and never again. I threw out four pairs of earbuds and two headphones and gave a pair of Apple iPod ear buds away after that incident, none compare under fifty bucks, at least not that I've tried.
My only complaint is the cord tends to tangle when you're not wearing them but that's not peculiar to this brand.
Customer Review: Real Value For the Money Summary: 5 Stars
You simply can't do better for the price. I've tried a number of earbuds, light headphones and over-the-ears systems for my MP3 players and this one is hands down the best.
The earphones are easily inserted in the ears and stay in place even with vigorous activity.
Sound quality is first rate, considering size and cost. You'd have to pay many times the price of these to get better sounding headphones and frankly, most of us will use these to listen to books or rock/pop music. I'm no audiophile, but for my listening activities, these have the same sound response of far more expensive systems.
Are these sound deadning earphones? Well, not really. But since they fit snugly into the ear, they do a pretty fair job of blocking out excess noise even with the volume set fairly low.
If you're reading this, you're probably in the market for earphones like this and wondering if these can really be that good for the price. Yes, they really are. You won't be disappointed with your purchase.
Customer Review: Wonderful Sound and VERY Comfortable Summary: 5 Stars
I just purchased these and I am impressed. I tend to favor much higher treble settings and lower bass, so after reading other reviews complaining about the bass I was expecting to have to make modifications.
Well, I did not experience what other reviewers have - maybe Koss has improved them. My pair sound perfect without any modifications or equalization, and covering the outside holes actually made them sound shrill and tinny. The sound from these ear buds compares very favorable with my MUCH more expensive Bose QuietComfort 2 headphones.
These ear buds are also very comfortable. After wearing them for only a few minutes I no longer notice them.
Sound isolation is pretty good. My PC has noisy fans and even when my MP3 player is set to a low volume the sound of the fans goes away as soon as I start playing something soft like Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2 (yeah, I highly recommend that too).
Overall, this is a great product that can't be beat for the price.
