Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Koss SPARKPLUG - Stereo In Ear Ear PlugsCustomer Review: These are great and inexpensive headphones! Summary: 5 Stars
I am self employed and use thse headphones at work as I am a carpenter. Often times other workers will play offensive music on the job over the radio. With these headphones in and an MP3 player on my tool belt loaded with Alexander Scourby (the Bible spoken) or hymns, I do still hear noise from the radio but it is quite hard to tell what song is playing on the radio at normal volumes. So they do block out lots of noise (but not as much as normal ear plugs) and so you do have to be careful not to turn your CD/MP3 player up to loud at work or anywhere where you need to know what is going on around you. At normal listening levels using these earphones you get very good sound isolating quality and very good sound quality as far as I can tell. Also thse headphones are quite durable as mine get banged aroung on the job some and stil work great. The foam pads have held up great, plus they give you a second set of pads with these headphones. You also get a lifetime warranty with these earphones so unless you need very high end headphones (some cost about $150), these headphones will do the job great, especially for just $10.
Customer Review: Fantastic for running and reading Summary: 5 Stars
This review is just for people who are looking for an inexpensive earplug/bud for listening to spoken text. See, I only use my iPod for Audible books, frequently when running or falling asleep. So the audio requirements are quite a bit less than for full-frequency spectrum music.
But the real reason I love this product is that it stays in my ears!! Everyone has differently shaped ear canals. Why don't more manufacturers use moldable ear inserts?? I know there are some who have complained about these being too tight or jamming back into the ear, so I admit, this may not apply to everyone. But before I found these Koss phones I could NEVER find earbuds that would stay in my ears when I ran. The movement meant eventually they would fall out -- no matter what I did.
These guys are incredible. Twirl the ends between thumb and forefinger -- just like with ear plugs. Then insert them, and in about 30 seconds they expand to fit the unique shape of the inside of my ear canals. And that's it. No outside noise gets in (I don't run on city streets) and they NEVER fall out! I love these.
Customer Review: Make Your Own Replacement Plugs Summary: 5 Stars
I love these buds since they virtually block out all other noise which is great in an environment where the noise gets to you too. The replacement plugs are on the market but are as expensive as buying a full headset. You can make your own plugs. Buy earplugs at the decible level you want and simply heat a nail (approximately the thickness of the sound stem) over the stove or cigarette lighter. Be sure to hold the nail with a pair of pliers. Heat the nail very HOT. Stand the earplug on the flat side. Burn a hole in the middle of the earplug...all the way through. If the nail was just the right size, the burned through hole will fit snuggly on the sound tube of the headset. Voile...the new ear plugs will pinch down and expand even better than the originals that came with the headset...and you can make a dozen or more in minutes...replace them when the old ones no longer pinch down and reshape. It may take a few practice plugs but it's far cheaper than buying the replacement plugs. BTW...you can buy whatever style of earplugs you want and make your own plugs for pennies. Hope this helps!!!
Customer Review: $20.00 Price with $200.00 Sound Summary: 5 Stars
I bought these for a replacement for the standard ear bubs that come with the IPOD. I could not be happier. I have uses these every day for the last 4 months and I think the sound is great. I have had more expensive ear phones in the past and I honestly can not tell the difference. Why pay alot for great sound. The trick to great sound is placement with in the ear canal. I alway squish my plugs down and insert then. You can actually feel the plugs expand to an air tight fit with in your ear canal. The closer to the ear drum the better the sound. Also remember that if something does not sound good, do not belame the headset. The original source recording could be poor.
As many have said, the cord is thin and does tend to tangle alot. The foam pads do get dirty and waxy often. My solution is to use warm water an alcohol swab to clean then and the small plastic tube. I do this weekly and I have not damaged them a bit. I still using the original bud that came with the phones. I am very happy with these and if these break an going to buy these again. They are cheap enough!!!
Customer Review: Best Headphones Ive Ever Had Summary: 5 Stars
Theses Headphones are one of the best. Ive used the regular Koss "The Plug" and it blocks out all outside noise. These new Spark Plugs are even better in which the foam is now expands Slower. I would highly recomend these headphones to anyone who wants some exclusion from society. These headphones are also extremely comfortable. I once fell asleep with them on and when I woke up, they were still on! A good thing about these headphones are also the low price. If they break, you could either send it back for the repair covered by the lifetime warranty or buy a new pair.
