Customer Review: Great for transcription

I'm a transcriptionist, and as such I'm always on the lookout for the right pair of headphones. Since these headphones are tuned for the mids, right where human speech falls, they are as close to perfect for my needs as it's possible to get. I have no need for screeching highs or soul thumping lows, and a huge soundstage is not only superfluous, but distracting. I can hear speech in recordings now that I was never able to hear with other 'phones, including the other end of some telephone conversations.
These cans cancel out so much ambient noise that my husband has been required to set up a peer-to-peer intercom system on our LAN so that he can get my attention while I'm working.
They are a little heavy, and for that reason extended wear is somewhat uncomfortable. That's not altogether a bad thing, though, as I probably don't take enough breaks for carpal health as it is. The only real drawback is that I do wear glasses, which after a couple of hours becomes pretty painful with these monsters. I don't fault the headphones, though, and plan to get sports-type glasses with an elastic strap instead of arms to accomodate my needs.
If you need excellent headphones for audio books or other spoken word recordings, I cannot recommend this product more highly.
