Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Koss KTXPRO1 Titanium Portable Headphones with Volume ControlCustomer Review: The Best Headphones I've Ever Owned Summary: 5 Stars
...And that is saying alot. My most prized possession is my Discman and good sound quality is something I consider one of the most worthy things to spend money on. So, needless to say, I have sampled everything that is out right now, I've listened to them all (except maybe some that are like hundreds of dollars and are all big on your head so i wouldn't want those anyway). And my conclusion is this: THESE HEADPHONES HAVE THE BEST SOUND. And also, they are the loudest. Or I should say, can be the loudest... if you put them on full volume. Take it from me, I'm an expert on headphones. These ones are the best. And, this part I dont understand, They are among the cheapest! Only 15 bucks! Or, only 20 bucks at some radio shacks. The only problem is, the "life" of the headphone isnt terribly long. So you will probably have to get new ones eventually (im on my 4th pair). But yea, to me, its worth getting new pairs as the old ones wear out. Because there just isnt any headphone out there right now to match these in Sound quality.
Customer Review: Good bass and very efficient Summary: 5 Stars
I have tried a lot of different portable headphones for my mp3 player. This Koss model has very good bass compared with many others. I am no electronics expert, but I think that they also don't require much power to run on. When I have done side-by-side comparisons with other headphones, the Koss phones seem louder. And that was important to me since my mp3 player doesn't have all that much power to begin with. I know that some people claim that these phones look stupid when on your head. I don't know about that, but the rubberized band that sits on your head makes them VERY COMFORTABLE. And, because of that, they do not slip and slide as I have experienced with other headphones. When my pair eventually wears out, I sure hope Koss is still making this model. My only complaint is that the cord is kind of long for a portable mp3 player. I keep part of it wound up and tied with the original twist-tie. But that is a very small problem. I have been using this model for at least a year and I highly recommend it!
Customer Review: Best $20 I ever spent Summary: 5 Stars
Four years ago I bought a set of Radio Shack Pro 35 (Koss KTXPRO1)headphones which I used almost every day for the last four years until the frame finally broke. For the life of me I don't see how Koss can design, and manufacture headphones and still achieve a profit, that sound so good for such a small amount of $. If Andrea Bocelli singing Tosca brings tears to your eyes on your surround sound system with your powered sub, so will listening to the same CD with these $20 KTXPRO1s. Audio is skewed towards the lower end so anything below mid-range is deep and rich sounding. Mid and high range are there and sound good, but if your idea of a decent pair of headphones is a $500 set of phones with a 300 hour breakin period driven by a Woo tube amp, then you'll miss the clarity of crystal clear highs and mid range.
As I write this I'm listening to Teardrop and Black Milk by Massive Attack on one of the three KTXPRO1s I bought after my original Radio Shack version gave up the ghost. Impressive.
Customer Review: Excellent sound, extraordinary value Summary: 5 Stars
I've owned the Koss KTX Pro 1 phones for just over three months. These are excellent sounding portable headphones at a great price. They're comfortable, well made and offer a balanced, full range sound with a very nice low end that's surprising for their size. I like good sounding bottom, and I never have to use the bass boost (with the accompanying exaggerated low end) on a portable CD player with these phones. The combination of rich, balanced sound, portability and comfort at such a low price make these a no-brainer as an upgrade to most any of the headphones supplied with Walkman-type products.
I was buying Koss Portapro headphones, which are outstanding and an excellent value themselves, and I also bought these because they were offered at a great price. They're probably not quite as well made as the Portapros but they're very close in sound quality and considerably less expensive. I highly recommend both models but if price is a main consideration the KTX Pro1s are the ticket.
Customer Review: Incredible bang for the buck Summary: 5 Stars
I have two other higher-end headphones, a set of Beyerdynamic DT990 Pros and Grado SR60i's. While the treble isn't as pronounced and crisp as those headphones, considering the Beyers cost well over $250-300 and the Grados go for $75+, for $15 these Koss phones are a steal. Their sound is well balanced overall, with clear midrange and bass that isn't remotely muddy or boomy. The treble is a bit soft but isn't remotely harsh like some cheaper phones; a bit of tweaking your treble tone controls is all you need to fix it up. They don't sound honky like most any other headphone I've tried at 3x the price, like some of the low-end Sennheiser phones and nearly any Sony product I've tried. Natural sounding is probably the best I can describe these phones with a bit of a soft high end.
You can't go wrong for inexpensive headphones with this set. It's gotta be one of the best values for headphones.
