Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Kingston MobileLite 9-in-1 USB 2.0 Flash Memory Card Reader FCR-MLCustomer Review: great product Summary: 5 Stars
Let me start with the Cons of this product, its size but I relized it would be large compared to other SD card readers from the pictures and the way it is arranged. I have an Env cell phone and it as thick when the phone is closed and it just over half as wide and about 3/4 as long. If you tight on space and USB ports it will block any ports next to it so beware, it dose come with a extention cable to solve this so no problem for me. My only problem with this product is it color I hate white I would have prefered if it was black but I knew that when I bought it so I wont take anything off for that.
Now to talk about the problem others have reported. I've been pluging and unpluging my for the last three days and no problems like some others have reported. The plastic slides to remove the cards seem sterdy enought so im not worried. Also some have mentioned that it's hard to distinguish which side is which on my there is writeing on the sides one side says "Kingston" the othe "Mobilelite" also the doors are a diffirent shape. All around I think this is a great product and am ordering atleast one more for my wife to use and maybe another incase something happens to this one and they are out of production then.
Customer Review: Works Fine Summary: 5 Stars
I've purchased a lot of memory from Kingston (RAM modules and flash memory) and have never been disappointed. The RAM sticks outlasted my computers, and I am currently using Kingston in my current rig. This is the first card reader I've used from them but so far, so good. It is so easy and convenient to use. Initially the lift-tab concealing the SD reader was a little hard to open but now it works fine. The card goes in easily and the plastic ejector does the job properly. Windows XP recognized it and installed it right away. I would purchase this again; it comes in very handy.
Edit added 3/14/09 - this unit broke. I think it is my fault, though. I have Windows Vista and clicked on the little icon to safely remove the reader. It said ok to remove, so I removed it. I forgot to click "ok" on the popup screen. A moment later I needed to insert the reader into the usb slot again so I did so but without having clicked "ok" from when I removed it before. After this, Windows would not read anything in the reader. Just a warning to people, make sure you click "ok" in the popup after you remove the reader from the usb drive.
Customer Review: Great alternative flashdrive Summary: 5 Stars
I originally got a Lexar Media Single-Slot USB 2.0 Multi-Card Reader (Model RW023-001), but it never worked in any computer I tried to use (both Windows and Mac). When I heard about the Kingston Mobilelite, I was impressed by its design and took another chance... and am glad I did. It is a little smaller than the Lexar and can read multiple formats... now I have a place to use the until now useless 32 MB card I got with my camera... I transfer files from one computer to another easily and still have a reader for my camera cards! Great design, great product!
Customer Review: This is great! Summary: 5 Stars
I haven't used it yet, so I can't vouch for its reliability. Will update this review if it fails. But I love the form of this thing. It's smaller than I expected, and that's great. Two little wings lift off the sides, exposing the various memory slots. It's small, has a little 6 inch usb cable if you want it, and reads several different types of memory. I'm very pleased with this item.
UPDATE (5 months later): Still very happy with it. I don't have need for it very often, but it's a great design, and has not failed in any way.
Customer Review: Good card reader/writer! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this card reader/writer one and a half month ago. The shipping and delivery of this device, from amazon, was very good.
Although I just use SD-type cards, this reader works great. The system to take out the cards is very good and prevents damages to cards.
Transfer speed when connect the reader in USB slot is same as an USB flash drive. Write and read speeds are very acceptable, and it works for me.
I recommend this card reader.
