I purchased this product to replace an aging USB flash drive that I use with my Ubuntu Linux desktop computers. This product arrived sooner than the projected arrival date and worked perfectly in my Ubuntu 9.04 and Ubuntu 9.10 systems. The Kingston DataTraveler was recognized upon plugging it into my computer and I transferred 1.2GB to it without any problems. I have had this drive for a few weeks and love it but it wasn't until last night that I found out how great it was. I accidentally left the drive in my pants pocket and it went into the wash... and then an hour in the dryer. Much to my surprise, it still worked after. All the data on the drive was unharmed. I am tempted to see what other extreme conditions it can handle. Do anyone know where I can rent a cannon?Customer Review: Perfect

Kingston has a great line of products and this one is perfect for storing and transporting large files. I bought 2 of them and have one always attached to my laptop to increase its storage capacity since its HD is a small 6 GB size. The only bad thing I can say about the DataTraveler is the instructions (should you really need to read them) are printed so small you need a magnifying glass to read them.Customer Review: Gadgester's Review - 3-stars for all the wrong reason

With all due respect, Gadgester deducted 2-stars for the wrong reason. Ready Boost will only recognize flash-drives up to 4GB, so you wouldn't buy this 8GB drive for Ready Boost anyway. Save your money and buy a 4GB if you plan on using it for Ready Boost. If you're looking for a flash-drive that is fast, reliable and has the ability to hold a lot of info, this is a great drive! I've had the Flash Drive for just about a month. I haven't had any issues with it yet. The slide for the retractable connector has to be pushed in to move it, then it locks in place at the open/closed position. Make sure it is locked in place to use or it may not extend far enough for some users. Still wish it had a cover like an older model to protect from dirt & debris, since I carry it in my purse.
