Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Kingston 19-in-1 USB 2.0 Flash Memory Card Reader FCR-HS219/1

Customer Review: Well made and it works
Summary: 5 Stars

At first I was looking for an internal card reader because my present internal reader is old and doesn't support SDHC. After reading all the negative comments about the internal card readers, I decided to buy this external unit. It's well made and works well. No problems whatsoever. You can just plug it in to a USB port and XP will find it. Also, you can download the driver from Kensington so the memory card slots will show up as little memory card icons in My Computer for CD, SD, MS, and mSD. The location of the driver is in the installation directions. I installed the driver and it works as it should.

Having the external card reader also gives me the flexibility to move it to another PC such as laptop.

Customer Review: EASY PEEZEY
Summary: 5 Stars

After having several problems with our old SanDisk multi reader I decided I needed a new reader. I originally ordered the Sony Duo Pro Memory Stick that was advertised as coming bundled with a mini USB reader. When it arrived there was no USB reader so I called Amazon.com and they graciously gave me a credit to purchase this Kingston reader. It worked out great! I have a new mac mini and the SanDisk would sporadically work. The Kingston seems to have NO problem reading the Sony 16GB DuoPro stick and it was just plug it in, add the memory card, the gadget lit up and showed up immediately on my Mac computer screen. Faaaaaaast download and erasing old pics, too. I LOVE IT. Thanks, Amazon for making my day brighter.

Customer Review: De-bunking some of the earlier reviews
Summary: 5 Stars

The Kingston Card Reader is a good product. Some of the earlier reviews mentioned that the reader does not recognize cards grater than 4GB. That's not true, I am currently using a 6GB and two 8-GB CF Cards in my Canon 50D and my Canon 40D Cameras and they work/read perfectly in this card reader.
I do plug my card reader into a USB Hub that has it's own power source and if I swap-out a card with a different card, I have to un-plug the reader from the hub to get it to read the new card -- but it does read all my cards just fine.
Lastly, if you push down on the toggle on top of the unit and slide it forward, you can avoid the pliers as mentioned by one other reviewer.

Customer Review: Lovin' it so far!
Summary: 5 Stars

I've been using this card reader for over a month and it's working like a charm! I work with between 50-300 RAW (.NEF) images a week and am amazed at the speed that this reader downloads the images. My previous (less expensive) reader would do OK at first but then would slow and got to the point where it would just quit mid-download. The Kingston reader not only downloads without a hitch, but allows me to manage and edit through Adobe Bridge right on the card before downloading. Before I had feared that my Kingston 16GB card was going bad but was relieved to find it was the reader. The sale price right now makes this reader a "no-brainer" to buy and I plan to purchase another.

Customer Review: Great Memory Reader for my A-DATA 32GB 533X Compact Card
Summary: 5 Stars

I was worried about this "cheaper" memory reader after I read a review about that it doesn't work with some CF memory sizes. It was too late to cancel the order, since I ordered it with the 1 day shipping on 23rd DEC 2009.

Anyway, I took the chance and it came out that this litte reader worked perfectly fine with my new 32GB CF memory card. I also bought this A-DATA 32GB 533X Speedy UDMA CF memory from Amazon.com, and it is being used on my new Canon 5D Mark II camera.

No issue so far, and the data transfer is fast. It took less than 1 min for 2GB+ of data to transfer to my HDD. With my older Sandisk reader (non-UDMA), it took 15 mins instead.
