Customer Review: Works like a charm

The cool thing about Kingston is that you can go to their site and look up exactly the memory part number for your computer; after dozens of additional memory chips installed I've never had a reliability problem with them.
With the standard 1 GB the Mac Mini starts feeling a little sluggish if you have more than three applications open, particularly if one is a browser with many tabs; upgrading to 2 GB means taking out the existing 1 GB kit, which seems like a waste; although I could have done this myself I didn't want to risk losing the warranty or breaking something, as everything is tightly packed, so I took it to an Apple service shop and they did quickly and for not much money.
The result? The little beast can now handle many more applications without breaking a sweat, although startup, shutdown and general application opening snappiness (or lack thereof) seems the same... It's similar behaviour to Vista with more than 1.5 GB, the system just seems to gobble it up without freeing it all for programs... While Ubuntu Linux and older versions of Windows seem frenetic with this amount of RAM.
