I bought this card so that I can listen to my music on my samsung SCH-u540 phone. I also wanted to transfer pictures from my phone to my PC. the verizon OS disables bluetooth OBEX, so you can forget about using that. you can buy a cable and software, but I think it costs more and it's phone specific. a microSD card is cheaper and ubiquitous.
the card doesn't need to be formatted, but a directory structure needs to be created. If you go to tools->memory->save options, you can have the phone copy sounds, videos, and pictures to the memory card. it's either at this point or once you take a picture, that the directory structure is created for all items. when you take the microSD card back to your PC using a reader, you can drag your media files to the appropriate folder.
enjoy your tunes without being forced to use VCAST!
Note: my phone was purchased in April 07 and the manual states that it plays only WMA files only. I tried on my phone and it plays both MP3 and WMA.

I purchased 3 of these to save on shipping. The two extra ended up being really great gifts, as these things are becoming more and more commercialized. Its also great because I can use it for me phone (micro sd) or for my camera (regular sd).
So far there have been no problems. Just plug and play. 1gb can hold hundreds of songs in my phone mp3 player. I use it all the time. It also allows my phone to store 1000 pictures...tho I dont ever think i'll be storing 1000 pictures.
I do not know the speed rating of this product, and cannot find it on the packaging, but I haven't noticed any significant lagging.
Kingston has not let me down so far (after having bought 5 of their memory-related products). Good product, at a good price. I'd recommend this to anyone.

I bought this card for my Sansa MP3 player and it works just fine. I estimate the average read/write speed to be 50X-60X - more than good for the player (read) and transfers to the card (write) are fast enough to be painless.
The size is a mixed blessing - The good, this card is TINY! and weighs nothing!
The bad - It seems fragile (the manual warns to not squeeze it in the center, only handle it by the edges), I wonder how many insertion/removal cycles it can take.
It come with a microSD to SD card adapter which I have used in a card reader and in my DSLR with success, but I have installed it in my MP3 player and hope to leave it there (at least until the price comes down on the 2GB version!).
So far...so good.

The card is packaged in a plastic case that holds the adapter and the microSD card. I keep the card in my phone, and I keep the adapter in the small plastic case in my laptop bag. The adapter allows you to use the microSD card as a regular SD card in any SD card reader. The card inserts into the adapter printed-side up -- note that in some devices, you insert the card printed-side down. The card, the adapter, and the case seem to be well-constructed.
The card has performed flawlessly in all my devices, which includes my phone, my PDA, and my computer's card reader. I have not yet had any problems with the card.

I purcahesd two of these for my Samsung Blackjack and they work GREAT. I have stored over 100 songs on one of them and there is still plenty of space for more songs pics, or videos. I have to admit though, I wasn't sure about it at first, because you know you get what you pay for, but so far so good. The card snaps in and out with ease, and the adapter makes it easy to transfer items between your phone, digital camera and your laptop/desktop if it supports SD cards. So if you are in the market for a micro sd card for your moblie device give this a try, I don't think you will be disappointed. I know I am not. :-)
