Customer Review: Best Travel Adapter - Period
Summary: 5 Stars

I was looking for a good travel adapter that would allow me to charge my phone and laptop/netbook while traveling on my Europe cruise. I had a few hotel stays in different countries and of course the cruise ship itself to deal with. I was willing to spend whatever it took to get a good quality adapter that would work.

I almost didn't buy this because it is so inexpensive. How could something so cheap possibly work as advertised or stand up to the abuses of travel? But the reviews were mostly positive so I decided to give it a try. I could always send it back if I discovered something cheesy or I had been ripped off.

This adapter not only works, but is well made and small enough to find a place in my carryon, which has almost no space left for anything. It is NOT a 'voltage converter' so look carefully at your chargers. They should have a tiny label on them (on the bulky part...not the cord) saying something like 'input 110v to 240v'. If your charger/power plug says that, then you don't need a voltage converter. Your charger is already capable of detecting the right voltage. All you need is something that will allow you to plug it into the wall. That is what this adapter does...and does well. If it just says 'input 110-120v' then DO NOT USE THIS ADAPTER with that charger. That charger/power plug requires 110 to 120 volts and the Europe plugs are 240 volts which will fry your charger and probably your device as well.

I wish I could give it a 6th star for not only working as advertised, but saving me money as well.

Customer Review: Works as advertised and clever design
Summary: 5 Stars

First off, this is NOT a voltage converter so if you have 110V appliances, make sure the power plugs for those are universal (i.e., accept 110-240V) before using them with this overseas. Also, the pics on Amazon sort of make it seem like you get three adapters, but they are really just different modes of the same adapter -you only get one adapter.

I like that this adapter is compact and lightweight and it comes in a small cloth carrying case. This was important to me because I didn't want anything too bulky or heavy. And unlike other adapters you don't have to carry around all these other plug extensions (i.e., one for each plug type). You can flip a switch on either side and either a UK, Europe, Asia, or US plug will surface. You can then flip or press the other plugs back into the device so that only one plug type is sticking out (just like in the pictures). I used this in Europe with no problems - as you can see, the Europe plug juts out more than the other modes. This is very important since many outlets in Europe are inset, and without that extra length on the plug, the adapter would not reach the outlet.

Also, this adapter is universal on both sides. So you can plug virtually any type of plug into it as well. All in all, a great product and a great value.

Customer Review: Compact and works well
Summary: 5 Stars

Very clever and compact little adapter. Just be aware that when you extend some of the prongs, you must use the LOCK switch to lock them into place.

I saw the lock switch and assumed it was used only to lock the prongs back into the adapter when the prongs weren't in use. Wrong... you use this lock both when extending the prongs for use and when pushing them back to conceal them. If you don't lock the prongs when using them protruded, then you can't plug the adapter in. The outlet will appear to be pushing the adapter right back out again.

I didn't lock the prongs when extended and was absolutely baffled why every outlet in my house appeared to be pushing the adapter out again when I plugged it in. I theorized that the outlets had some secret spring-loaded safety feature and that the adapter was defective because it was tripping this non-existent safety feature. I even started to make a video review to prove to skeptics that my outlets were pushing out the adapter whenever I plugged it in.

A neighbor finally examined the adapter and reminded me of the lock switch... mystery solved, and I feel like someone with the IQ of a houseplant.

Customer Review: Works just fine, and a great price!
Summary: 5 Stars

Works great! This is basically the "knock-off" version of the more expensive items that seem to have the same configuration, but this one is 1/4 the price. It looks and feels a little cheap compared to more expensive ones but I found that it works just fine.

I love the fact that there's no pieces to lose; I've tried the adapters with all the little funny pieces that you plug together in different configurations depending on where you travel - but I end up losing half the pieces after, like, 35 seconds. All-in-one is the only way to go!

Works fine for me when I travel to Europe, or when I use Europe electronics in the U.S. I've even used it in the U.S. just to adapt a 3-prong appliance to a 2-prong plug.

Throw 2 or 3 of these in your notebook bag whenever you travel (even within the US!), they're cheap, work great, and you'll be glad you did!

Of course, you do need to understand the different between an "adapter" and a "converter". This little guy will not convert voltage, so be sure whatever you plug into this can handle whatever voltage you connect it to, or you'll probably destroy whatever your trying to plug in.

Customer Review: Works great, can't beat the price
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased this adapter for a trip to Sweden and it worked great for my purposes. Others have already mentioned this, but it is worth repeating that this item is NOT a voltage reducer, it is simply a plug adapter. All of the chargers I planned on using with this adapter accepted voltages from 100-240 volts, so this was not an issue for me, but make sure to check your chargers/appliances to see if they will accept voltages higher than the usual United States voltage of 110 volts.

The only items I needed to charge with this adapter on my trip were my camera battery, electric shaver, and iPod, and it worked great for these devices. Others have mentioned problems with keeping the appropriate prongs extended from the adapter (some of the prongs have locking mechanisms to keep them extended), but I found the device to be rather intuitive and not difficult to manage at all.

After we arrived in Sweden I noticed that many tourist shops there sold this exact same device for about 10 times the cost of what you will pay on Amazon, so save yourself some money and buy this beforehand!
