Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Keyspan by Tripp Lite USA-19HS Hi-Speed USB Serial Adapter, PC, MAC, supports Cisco Break SequenceCustomer Review: OS X (Snow Leopard) Compatible Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this for a MacBook Pro (no serial port) so I could console into servers and network equipment. I installed the drivers, plugged everything up, and consoled successfully into a SunFire server via the LOM without issue. For the technically inclined: With the driver installed, when you attach the device you'll get a new device (/dev/tty.KeySerial1). To console into a system, simply open a terminal (Terminal.app) and issue the command:
screen /dev/tty.KeySerial1 9600
Customer Review: Finally!!! Summary: 5 Stars
This adapter works PERFECTLY with my Garmin eTrex Legend GPSr! I have tried many others with no success and was about ready to concede defeat, but thank goodness for a referral to this product from a fellow geocacher.
Try this one first, don't waste time and money with anything else. Another plus is the super fast shipping time, I ordered it on Monday and received it Thursday, even with the free shipping from Amazon!!!
THANKS KEYSPAN for a wonderful product, that works!
Customer Review: Connect Garmin eTrex to Mac so you can use TOPOS Summary: 5 Stars
After trying other USB to Serial Adaptors to get a Garmin eTrex Summit to communicate with an iMac, I am happy to report this one works flawless. (You will need also the Garmin serial connector)
Now you won't have to suffer Windows to use TOPOS with your Garmin.
Want to connect your Garmin eTrex to a Mac so you can use TOPOS, this works, some others don't. (Have not checked this with Tiger, can't think of a reason it would not work)
Customer Review: Works with Garmin GPS III and OS X Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this adapter specifically to connect an old Garmin GPS III (dates to 1997) to my Mac G5 running under OS X 10.4.11. After installing the driver from the supplied CD, I connected the GPS III and started up GPSBabel+. With the GPS III's transfer mode set to Host, GPSBabel+ was able to download all of the track logs in short order.
I also tested HoudahGeo, and it successfully read the track logs, also.
Bottom line: It works!
Customer Review: It Works Summary: 5 Stars
What more can I say. It just works as advertised. It works on a Macintosh computer running OS 10.4.6 and on the same computer running Windows XP sp3. It works even on a Windows PC as well. The only time you may run into problems will be using the adaptor and your computer with a device that has ancient hardware/software that will not work with any RS-232 to USB adaptor. In this case you will need to find an old computer with a dedicated RS-232 connector.
