Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Keyspan by Tripp Lite USA-19HS Hi-Speed USB Serial Adapter, PC, MAC, supports Cisco Break Sequence

Customer Review: It just works!
Summary: 5 Stars

Works perfectly with windows XP pro on my Asus a8js laptop (2ghz core2 duo, 2gb 667mhz ram, etc).

I needed it because my new fancy laptop didn't have a serial port, and i use my laptop to connect my OBD2 scanner to automobiles to check the engine codes.

This allows COM4 to be assigned to the usb port, and the OBDCOM software can use this usb adapter perfectly to communicate with the car. It also works perfectly with VAGCOM.

it's worth the money, trust me.

Customer Review: A must have for your Toolkit !!
Summary: 5 Stars

I work with Cisco and other network gear on a daily basis in my role as Help Desk Editor at Network World. Although I primarily use this with my MacBook Pro (use either CoolTerm or ZOC/Pro for a terminal program) for gear config/administration, it does work good with Windows. It correctly implements the serial handshaking so you wont have problems with dropped characters or intermittent lockups in communications. This stays in my bag with the MB Pro at all times. If you dont have one, get one ordered today !!

Customer Review: Best USB to Serial
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought a navigation software and was using a generic USB to Serial product. After connecting the USB to Serial to my computer it would lock up computer and I would have to reboot. After talking with the manufacturer of the software I found out that the generic USB to Serial uses perifial drivers, he suggested that I buy a Keyspan USB to Serial that doesn't use perifial Drivers. After receiving Keyspan product I connected computer to Software and it neverlocked up computer again. Great Product.

Customer Review: Works great with OS X
Summary: 5 Stars

I usually don't write-up reviews, but I am writing this to let those Mac OSX users (inc Panther which is what I am running) know that this adapter does work. I bought this for my Garmin etrex Legend GPS. I use it with my iBook and my Power Mac G4. It was a flawless installation. (1) I installed the Mac OS X drivers (2) told virtual PC to emulate COM 1 using the OS X driver, and (3) Download GPS map data to my GPS. It's that easy! Keyspan has good instructions to set up your serial devices.

Customer Review: Works where other units fail.
Summary: 5 Stars

I was trying to run a very old version of Autotap on a newer laptop that did not have a serial port. First, I tried a Dynex USB to serial cable that cost 20% more than the Keyspan, it did not work. Then, hearing that a PCMCIA card was the way to go, I shelled out over a hundred bucks for a Quatech serial card, guess what? It didn't work either. Next, tried this Keyspan unit after stumbling on some excellent reviews, it works perfectly! had the longest cord and cost the least...perfect!
