Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Keyspan by Tripp Lite USA-19HS Hi-Speed USB Serial Adapter, PC, MAC, supports Cisco Break SequenceCustomer Review: Works on PLCs Summary: 5 Stars
Used this in engineering automation business, specifically Modicon and Rockwell (AB) PLCs and a few other devices for controls automation. All worked fine where other products did not or even caused a blue screen crash. A good product for tech geeks. Comes with a CD w/drivers and a 3' USB cord. The USB cord is a standard one so it can be replaced with a longer one if needed. Keeps the same com port assigned even when connecting to other USB ports. Includes a nifty diagnostic program for troubleshooting the device and even seeing the modbus communications data. Used this on XP SP3. Highly recommended...
Customer Review: A great Serial Adapter Cable Summary: 5 Stars
This Serial Adapter Cable is versitle and very use full if you need to connect any serial devices to a USB port.
I use a Freestyle Blood meter as i am a Diabetic and must check my sugar count several times a day now i no longer have to waste time writing down each test i just hook my serial cable to the Keyspan Adapter and upload it to my computer.and its not only for my metter i only have 1 Serial port and my Monitor is hooked to it
But my printer is also a Serial hook up as are a few other items i use and the KeySpan Adapter works on them all.
Great Item, Great Deal, Great PriceToo!
Customer Review: Works for older Palm PDA Summary: 5 Stars
This product worked as advertised with a Palm VIIx PDA, using the Palm serial cradle. It also worked while running from Windows Vista.
Be sure to download the Vista drivers from Keyspan's site, as the enclosed CD does not have Vista drivers.
One caveat is that I had to manually set the connection speed of the device. Keyspan's owner's manual will tell you to leave it set to "as fast as possible," but in reality I had to set it down to 9600.
Overall thought, I was pleased, as it allowed this admittedly older device to still work with a newly bought PC, and Vista.
Customer Review: Great product - excellent drivers Summary: 5 Stars
I'm always suspicious of manufacturer's drivers, but I have to say Keyspan has written some superb drivers for this device - even on the Intel Macs. Seamless, well done install, and operation has been a cinch.
The other feature I really like is that this does NOT have a built-in cable. The cable that's included is a normal USB cable and can be detached so you can substitute any standard USB cable of whatever length you find necessary for the job.
Highly recommended over all the other brands of USB-Serial adapters for quality of drivers, features, and general performance.
Customer Review: Great for Mac interfacing Summary: 5 Stars
I wasted money and many hours trying to use cheaper ($5-$10) USB-to-RS232 serial adapters to interface an Intel Mac Pro to a 15 year old voltmeter. Nothing worked, so I bought the Keyspan, installed the driver (easy, and well documented), connected it, and had the interface working within 5 minutes. No fuss, no muss, no nonsense. I believe the Keyspan operates with somewhat higher voltages required by many older serial devices, but it should work equally well with newer devices. Don't repeat my mistake. Just spend the extra $20 or so, and have your interface work right the first time.
