Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Kensington Noise Cancelling Headphones ( 33084 )Customer Review: Just like the ones from Sharper Image Summary: 4 Stars
A few years ago I bought noise cancelling headphones from Sharper Image for $50. Recently the cords were in a terrible accident involving sharp cat teeth. Very upset I tried to find them again online. While I couldn't get them from Sharper Image, I stumbled upon these from Kensington. Exact same headphones except there was now a blue piece on them but the price was now $20 less! I really like these headphones. I have been using them for years everywhere - buses, cars, waiting rooms, home, gym, by the pool, in a park, and airplanes. I do notice an odd tinny noise if I try to use these with tape players or turn on the noise cancelling without listening to anything. Otherwise, with CD players, DVD players and MP3 players I have really enjoyed them. I find that most sound is blocked and the quality of sound is excellent. They work perfect for my needs. If you don't want to pay $300 for a pair of Bose and your needs aren't extensive get these!
Customer Review: Solid value for short trips Summary: 4 Stars
This is a solid value, I have used the industry standard Bose on international flights where they are offered in business class and above and I will compare my experience to that. Function: 3 stars, value bonus +1.
1. Noise Cancelling: The noise cancelling capability is not as good as the Bose, but it is good enough. You can notice the difference, sufficient block out the hum of jet engines. If you absolutely need better, you'll have to pay.
2. Comfort, reasonable comfort. Will depend on how your ears and head are shaped. Suitable for transcontinental flights, international might get sore.
3. Travel: This is actually where they are better than the bose. They fold up nicely into a bag, the Bose are stored in a hard case. Nicer, but take up more space.
This is a solid value product, not perfect but for 1/10th the best you get 70% of the value.
Customer Review: Don't think of them as noise 'cancelling' devices. Summary: 4 Stars
These headphones by no means cancel or eleminate noise. They reduce light noise like computer fans, dishwasher, light construction crews, etc. They have exceptional sound quality and battery life is great if you remember to turn off the power. I got around 1 week with the 'AAA' battery on straight all 160+ hours. They look stylish in your home, but I wouldn't wear them walking down the street or even at a business/school.
All in all if you want to cancel the couple screaming at each other from across the street, but still have to hear that annoying kid/sister of yours two feet away, and listen to great music all at the same time... then these headphones are for you!
Customer Review: Great value, low risk Summary: 4 Stars
I had mine for 9 months and loved them on plane trips. Very comfy on my ears for long periods, not TOO goofy-looking due to smaller profile, rugged folding mechanism, and satisfying noise reduction. The "low risk" part? I absent-mindedly left mine behind on my last flight to Germany. Do I miss them? Yes, so I will buy exactly the same ones again. Do I feel bad about having to pay twice? Yes. But I did not have to pay over $200 twice! I can lose them 5 times and break even with Bose. Oh, and be sure to bring a spare AAA battery on your trip. Even if you remember to turn it off there is only so much sound a little battery can cancel over many hours.
Customer Review: NYC Subway Summary: 4 Stars
I ride a NYC Subway train through Brooklyn to Manhattan 2 x each day. These trains are loud. The Kensington Noise Cancelling Headphones quiet most of the noises nicely. I like loud music but, with these headphones, I am not forced to blast my music. They have small oval cups that are very light on your head and ears. I do have an occasional problem with what I describe as frequency sounds. Like back when cell phones were young, your car radio would freak out sometimes when your phone rang. It happens from time to time but not enough for me to not recommend Kensington Noise Cancelling Headphones. For the price, they are a steal!
