Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Kensington Mini Battery Extender and Charger for iPod; iPhone 1G, 3G (Black)Customer Review: perfect for everyday use Summary: 5 Stars
With my morning 30 minute conference calls, I barely get by each day without needing to recharge my iPhone.
What drew me to this was the all in one style design. No cables or mess to deal with. Here's the low down:
Cons:
- Simultaneous charging (connected to my Macbook Pro) took a little longer than preferred, but I guess it was because my iPhone was completely dead.
Pros:
- Tiny battery pack was able to charge my iPhone to about 65% from dead which was impressive in a relatively short period of time
- Battery indicator was extremely helpful
- Small enough to keep in my pocket without the weight and bulk
- The smartest thing about this battery pack is that it leaves about a 1.5mm gap on the bottom of the iPhone so the microphone isn't blocked. Genius.
- Oh yeah, it comes with a plastic cap to protect the connector if you toss it in your work bag or something.
Customer Review: In your Pocket when you need it Summary: 5 Stars
I love this thing. Anytime I'm going somewhere I think I might excessively use my iPhone, I just slip this thing in my pocket, and I never have to worry about over using my iPhone! Since I bought it, this little mini battery has saved my but at least 8 times. It is small enough that I can put it in my back pocket and forget about all day or night until I might need it. But powerful enough that I can get about a 90% charge again without having to leave my iPhone plugged up to a wall, where who knows what could happen to it.
If you are going on a hiking trip (I use my GPS a lot for that), a friends house for a day (lots of Photos) or maybe just got invited to a last minute party, but don't have time to charge you iPhone, than you be very happy you had this battery with you.
Customer Review: works great! Summary: 5 Stars
Just got this battery from amazon today. It works great.
To test it out on my new 3G iPhone, I drained the phone's battery completely. The external battery was not charged out of the box so I fully charged the external battery through my computer, which took about 3 hours. Then I attached the charged external battery to the iPhone. I kept the iPhone off while it was being charged by the external battery. The external battery charged my iPhone back to 80% battery life. The charge took about 1 hour.
Also, I have a case on the iPhone and did not encounter any issues with charging the phone with the external battery. The case did not have to come off!
Excellent product. I'll use this just about daily at work/home.
Customer Review: Canned Lightning Summary: 5 Stars
This is something that every iPhone owner should own. It is a lifesaver anytime your iPhone has depleted its charge - an almost daily occurrence for me. If you plan to use your iPhone for music, gaming or videos on a cross-country flight, this will ensure that you arrive with battery power to spare when you arrive. The dock connector on the battery exender and the mini-USB to USB cord supplied with this product means that you can leave your plug-in charger at home and recharge both the iPhone and the Battery Extender from your laptop. I have an Apple Store two blocks from my office and they have nothing like this available (and should)!
Customer Review: Necessary for iPhone power users Summary: 5 Stars
If you use the iPhone all the time with 3G, fetching every 15 min, bluetooth, watching videos, listening to music and bright screen, etc., the iPhone does not last long at all. Sure you could keep it plugged in all of the time, but the point is to be portable. This battery pack definitely does the job of extending the battery life of the iPhone 3G when needed. It's compact and light. Sure you have to carry something else around but that's the iPhone's fault. The only potential flaw would be the actual connection to the iPhone itself. That could be easily be damaged with repeated use as it looks so delicate, but so far so good.
