I read all the reviews here before buying the hub. It amazed me how much they differed, so here's my summary. The weighted base is really nice as is the fact that the cables all exit the rear of the dome (other than the top port). I find it annoying when you have cables entering on all sides; what a mess. The dome neatened up my desk. USB connections are a little strange because of the curvature, but I have had NO problems with loose cables. The stay in place fine for me. I've tried a dozen or so different devices in different combinations; all have worked without any problems. For those that wrote earlier, I wonder if they bothered to plug in the AC adapter. They may have loaded down the available current on the PC if they didn't apply the external power. That could cause read/write problems with power-hungry moving drives. This little baby is amazing. I'm running 4, yes FOUR external hard drives, not a single one of them powered except by the USB power from the hub, and I am transferring movies from my laptop to every one of them at the same time with ZERO issues whatsoever. Fast transfer speeds, no connectivity issues at all. I'm in love!
The little light that comes with the hub is worthless unless you are in pitch black, but if that were the case your laptop screen will be more powerful than the light anyway...but hey, it is a cool bendy light!
Excellent hub, best I've ever seen, and after going through 3 others I am very very happy to have found this, the answer to my prayers.

Now I can plug my scanner, printer, iPod, camera, wireless mouse, cell phone & an external hard drive into my laptop (MacBook Pro) with a single USB connection. The hub is small enough to be unobtrussive on my desk and yet substantial enough not to slide around, should the occassional cord be moved.
The DomeHub is small enough that I'd consider it portable: its small & light enough to fit nicely in a laptop bag, should you (like me) need to travel and occassionally set-up an 'office' on the fly.

I selected the 7-port Kensington DomeHub because I had previously added a 4-PORT hub to my older computer and that ran out quickly. Even though my new computer had additional hubs I felt that you could never have too many, it was easier to have most of them centrally accessible, and I didn't want to use the front ones for anything except temporarily attaching flash drives, etc. The Kensington hub gave me the added ports in a compact package. Even better was the fact that it was weighted and didn't slide around. I could place it with confidence that I wouldn't knock it off the desk by mistake.
It worked immediately without any installation problems and no need for instructions. It does just what I wanted and hides safely out of sight while staying easily reachable.

I read every good and bad review for this before I bought it. I researched these hubs for hours. I finally made up my mind that despite the few nay sayers I was going to roll the dice and try it. I'm glad I did... This hub is still woking brilliantly. Its size and shape is very compatible with my desk at work. The weight of this product is a plus too. the extra port at the top is very convenient for quick and frequent ins and outs. I love this doggone product! Right now I have 2 Western Digital external hard drives, a Kingston memory stick, a mouse and a keyboard hooked up this Kensington hub. I don't think that it will support any more hard drives though. My laptop doen't have enough power. It's working fine out here in Iraq so far.
