These types of locks are a deterrent and not a guarantee that your laptop won't get stolen. That being said... I like this model. It incorporates a flat key vs. the cylinder lock. I didn't want a combination lock. I have enough numbers to remember without adding to them. It has a rubber cushion ring that prevents the lock itself from marring your laptop case. The cable is long enough and plastic coated which is good.
The only thing I don't like about it is that everthing spins. The lock outer shell spins. The cable can rotate around. I can understand the reason (it allows the cable to rotate instead of locking it tightly in one position). However, it sometimes takes a little effort to align the locking mechanism to insert it into the laptop slot. I think I can live with that.

I bought this lock to replace a stolen lock (in a bag, not on a computer!). So far, it works very well.
Unlike some others who reviewed this lock, it worked well for me on both a unibody MacBook Pro and a new version white MacBook. I have no idea why these people are having such big problems.
As long as you realize that this lock is there to prevent spur-of-the-moment snatches, not determined criminals, you'll be happy. The one I bought here at Amazon was my second so each computer has its own.
I should note that the keys don't work as smoothly as my stolen (and very old) lock but that has not been a big deal.

The Kensington 64343 MicroSaver works well, with one complaint: the lock itself is difficult to use. On the back of the lock is a T-shaped tab which fits into the slot on your laptop computer. The tab has a little pin on either side, which need to line up with the tab in order for the tab to go into the slot. It's possible for the tab and the pins to go out of alignment with each other. When that happens, you'll spend a long time fiddling with the lock, trying to get the tab and the pins back to the way they're supposed to be. This is probably due to cheap construction of the lock mechanism - it ultimately gets the job done, but can be a pain to use.Customer Review: Impressive Customer Service

This lock does take a little getting used to. I purchased it to replace the previous model (famous for being easily picked). It's sturdily built and coils efficiently into my laptop bag. The cable holder keeps the cable manageable. The locking mechanism isn't very intuitive however and until you've used it a few times, you have to fiddle with it. But it's definitely a good investment.
One note- I'm very impressed with Kensington's customer service. I lost one of the keys a couple of weeks ago and the company replaced it- for free, via Fedex. Which is exactly the sort of thing that wins my long-term loyalty. Thumbs up.

I actually use this lock for my LCD monitor and it fits very well. It's nicer than some of the other Kensington locks since it has a more complicated key (can't be opened with pen and some paper) and I hear the combination versions are a pain to use.
Since the Kensington key is a bit limited in its strength, (you could imagine a strong man being able to tear it out, but it depends on your product. Why don't they reinforce those spots with metal?) I find the price for this item a little too high for its ultimate functionality.
