Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Kata Ergo-Tech Series Sensitivity V Personal Gear Backpack for Digital Camera and 12 Inch Laptop Computer, BlackCustomer Review: The best travel gadget-backpack ever! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this backpack for a long trip over seas. I wanted to have all my electronics in one place, safely guarded, and within easy reach to pass all airport security (I had to go through several of them). So this was an excellent choice for several reasons: design, size, multiple pockets, built materials, etc.
I was able to fit my incredibly old and outdated Compaq Presario C700 15 inch laptop with a lot of fuss I might say in the laptop compartment. I know the backpack doesn't say it fits one of these, but I was able to. It didn't break, or tear or anything. But I did not take out during the whole trip. It was quite a work out getting it in there!
Inside the other compartments I was able to fit in my Canon Rebel T2i with one lens (18-55mm), all of the cables and charger, the charger for my laptop, another digital camera but a small one, a western digital external hard drive (the desktop kind 640GB) with the cables and all, my iPod, my iPhone, my blackberry, (and yes, all of their cables and chargers).
The pockets on the straps are quite snug for cellphones and/or mp3 players, so if you have them with any kind of covers you will have some issues getting them in or out.
The straps are super comfortable with good padding and excellent stitching, although I wore a tank top and after (many) hours my skin was quite reddish from rubbing against the rugged fabric of the straps. I'm not sure if this is a pro or a con, because the rugged part is precisely what keeps the straps from rolling off your shoulders.
I'll just have to wait and use the backpack in the summer.
When you adjust the length of the straps and snap the front strap the backpack sits super comfortably on your back. I traveled with two over sized suitcases, a carry on, and this Kata Bag. It doesn't jump or slide, it's just perfect.
After moving cross-continents, I've used it many times for short sightseeing trips or going to class. I either put an umbrella or a small water bottle on the outside pocket (it comes very handy).
A small drawback is that if you have quick photo-op you might not have enough time to get your camera out. But I guess it is more of a travel bag than a strolling-around-ready-to-shoot-bag.
Another thing is that when ridding the bus or the metro I do have to be careful with pick-pocketers and place the bag on my front because everything is exposed and unattended on my back, but no big deal, it's just like with any other bag or purse.
In conclusion, (too much gibberish) the bag is amazing! It's almost Mary Poppin's bag. You can fit an amazing amount of stuff in it. The ergonomics alone are worth it. The materials and quality are excellent (the stitching, the zippers, the yellow inside makes everything pop out, and the compartments keep everything organized).
If you have a 14inch laptop, don't hesitate.
Description of Kata Ergo-Tech Series Sensitivity V Personal Gear Backpack for Digital Camera and 12 Inch Laptop Computer, BlackThe Sensitivity V backpack is ideal for day to day use, and can comfortably fit a laptop, digital camera or SLR, MP3 player, and more. Two frontal U-shaped flaps access top and bottom compartments separately, and each functions as a flexible pocket on its own. The main compartment is divided in two with a zippered division that can be undone to create one large space. The top section comprises an internal organizer panel for personal effects, a detachable elongated zip pouch and a small roaming media pocket. While the lower section has Elasto-Guard sleeves to secure and protect delicate equipment (if not in use these just fold away to allow for other gear), and Flexi-Shield reinforcement runs along the sides. A large rear safe guard laptop compartment will hold up to 12-inch laptops. One low-profile, high-capacity side pocket can hold water bottles, and a small external music media pocket will allow easy extraction of earphone cable. Two media pouches are integrated into the shoulder straps for quick access of phone or MP3 player.
