I got the smallest tripod, the original. In pink. It's amazing.
Things I have used it on today:
a flag pole (2 inch diameter)
the arm of a chair
my head! (carefully, to film my hands crochetting)
my wrist
my neck (carefully, and mostly for comedic effect)
a bookshelf
my dad's shirt pocket
Things I am pretty sure will work:
rear view mirror (you can film the road OR yourself!)
steering wheel (if you're going straight for a while)
the front rack of a four wheeler (probably a bad idea)
any kind of moving object with handlebars
a swing set
a ceiling fan (off, or for some excitement - going slowly!)
How it works with my specific camera: (Canon PowerShot SD1000)
First of all, the picture on the box was a Canon Powershot (but with the logo and stuff photoshopped off) so that was reassuring. I was a little worried because the screw is not exactly in the center of my camera, and I read someone's review that said it would tip over because it wasn't balanced or whatever, but that is not the case with a very compact camera (4 oz.) The camera doesn't cause it to drop of anything. It will pretty much hold the camera at any angle.
