Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of JBuds J2 Premium Hi-Fi Noise-Isolating Earbuds -Onyx BlackCustomer Review: Good sound, comfortable, affordable Summary: 5 Stars
I have had iPods for several years now. I could never get the earbuds that came with them to stay in my ears (even though it didn't seem to be a problem for others, or perhaps it was a well-kept secret!).
Well, enter these J2 Jbuds -- they go in-ear and stay in place. In addition, the fact that they go in-ear isolates outside sounds very well so you hear only the music you are listening to.
Initially I was disappointed and thought that these earbuds sounded cheap, but they do have a burn-in period and now they sound great.
I would say that they seem a little bass-heavy. Mid range comes in OK too. Treble seems a little muted. All in all though I am satisfied with the sound. I don't seem to get "ear fatigue", but I don't listen to my music portably for more than an hour at a time.
I recommend the Samba case to hold a MP3 player and the earbuds. My iPod classic fits in one side and the earbuds in the other side. An iPhone also can fit in one side if it doesn't have a case that adds bulk to it. I have an iPhone in a leather case, and if I wanted to use the Samba case with it I'd have to take the iPhone out of its leather case first. If you have a form-fitting iPhone case the Samba case should hold both the iPhone and earbuds.
I don't have the Apple in-ear earbuds to compare to these. Because I got these on Amazon for about $30 (about half the price of the Apple ones), I bought these instead and am very happy with the purchase.
I give these 4 stars only because they seem to be a little weak in the higher end of the audio spectrum.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
I've had several pair of the cheaper JBuds, and have always been pleased with the sound quality. They didn't last very long, but then they were priced to be disposable.
The J2s are definitely a step up, in both sound fidelity and the quality of construction. Although these are still lightweight ear buds, they have a more solid, well-built feel than the original JBuds.
These have the straight 3.5 mm connector, which works best for devices (iPods) that have the connector on the top or bottom. Devices with the earphone connection on the side (Blackberries) do better with an angled, of course.
These ear buds are quite effective at sound isolation, at a fraction of the cost of some products advertised for that purpose. Yet they are quite comfortable, and can be worn for long stretches.
You can't go wrong with these, especially with all the colors to match the new Nanos.
One note for the ear bud manufacturers: more and more devices have microphone capability (the iPod Touch running Fring for example; never mind the new Blackberrys and iPhones). We need more choices in quality ear buds that also have a microphone for voice memos or phone conversations. I just got a Blackberry Bold and will be using that device for an MP3 player as well as a cell phone. I need one pair of buds that I use for both.
Customer Review: better than expected for the price Summary: 5 Stars
I paid only $14 with free shipping and I was pleasantly surprised with the build quality of J2 buds. When I listened to them immediately after opening the box, the sound was suffocated and mudded. These really need to be burnt in by plugging them to a music source and leaving them playing for at least a few hours, better a couple days. Then sound quality opened up and it's decent for the price right now. They got great soundstage and enough detail, bass is just right. I appreciate that these buds are not even slightly fatiguing. They are somewhat midrange forward, so they are particulary great for audiobooks, and they kill most hiss on voice files. You do pay for this smooth easy on your ears hiss free sound with a bit of a loss in clarity though. But these are my favorite buds for exercising with, listening to speech and they are nice for music to fall asleep to.
It is also important to play with the sizes of the tip to get a good seal, otherwise they will sound tiny and you won't have good bass and treble. If you achieve proper seal, sound quality is fine.
J2's provide good compromise between external sound isolation and reduction of microphonics. Cord noise is not an issue, though they don't isolate the most. The isolation is enough for me though, since I don't sit still with them and rather not deal with the cord noise.
The buds are also very light and comfortable for me. Judging on the build quality, I think these might last for a while with careful use. Love the color choices, I got mine in orange.
Customer Review: With a Little Care, It Works Great Summary: 5 Stars
I ordered these JBuds earbuds after my old earbuds broke. I had experience with breaking earbuds in the past, and I didn't want to break these, so I took good care of them. Approximately half a year has passed since I started using them, and they're still working great.
Here is how I'm keeping my Jbuds earbuds in good condition, and some tips on how you can do the same:
Never tightly wrap your earbuds around your MP3 player. I generally loosely criss-cross fold my earbuds, keeping as much of it straight as possible. This reduces the chances of the wires inside from overextending and breaking.
Never make a sharp angle fold where the cable meets the jack. From experience, I can deduce that this is one of the weakest spots of the earbuds; when trying to fix my old earbuds, I noticed that the break in the wire was directly behind the jack. Keeping this area straight as much as possible will reduce the chances of your earbuds snapping at one of their weakest points.
Do not switch out the cushions of your earbuds too frequently. Find a size that fits (the earbuds come with a set of small, medium, and large cushions) and keep them in. This keeps the cushion tight and secure around the speakers and reduces the chances of them falling off and getting lost.
Keep your earbuds away from water and other liquids. If you are near an area that could potentially damage your earbuds, make sure they are either securely in your pockets or securely in your ears.
Customer Review: Best Ever For the Money Summary: 5 Stars
Short and simple (Not any more): 51 years old, have logged literally thousands of hours listening to music through either headphones or ear buds, including some very expensive models. The JBuds J2 ear buds are simply amazing for the price - no hesitation at all rating them a 5.0.
I have read some of the other reviews stating the sound quality is poor and there are at least three possible reasons for such disparity in reviews: (1) the manufacturing Quality Control is atrocious, and I lucked out and got a good pair, or (2) the source of the music (player) or connection is at fault. An improper connection (corroded or loose) will make it impossible for any ear bud to play well, or (3) the ear bud cannot effectively fit within the ear canal, as some have noted.
Because of the nature of my job my hearing is tested every year and despite my age, I have not lost any ability to hear the entire tested frequency range and have scored nearly perfect results for 26 years - so I know my hearing is Okay. My home system consists of Paradigm Signature 6 Reference Speakers bi-amped with a Denon 5805 AVR (i.e. 12,000 dollars worth of amplifier/speakers for 2 channel production that as wife has said sounds no different from live performances that we have attended at state of the art acoustical venues (Mohegan Sun Cabaret Theater). So I have a good benchmark (reference) to gauge the quality of the sound of the JBuds against and will stand by my rating of their sound quality.
