Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of JBuds J2 Premium Hi-Fi Noise-Isolating Earbuds -Onyx BlackCustomer Review: Great Earbud For The Price! Summary: 5 Stars
I was a loyal Etymotic customer until they told me in so many words that my ear buds failing after three months was my fault! I dropped 99.00 on those earbuds! It was the 3rd Pair I've owned! I get about 1 year out of these buds so three months of use is a problem..hell one year is a problem although i do use them 5 times a week. I also own a pair of ER-4P's but i use them sparingly because i don't want my 170.00 investment to go out the door. I have had the ER-4's for about 2 years. The ER-4's have a two year warranty compared to the ER 6's one. After about a year the ER 6i's start to short out. Now to Etomotic's defense they did replace my ER 6i's and sent me a cord manager, but they also told me that if something happens to this pair I'm stuck. This led to the purchase of The JBud J2's. They don't sound as good as my ER-6's as far as treble/highs but for the price this is truly the best pair of ear buds i have ever owned! I don't have to handle these buds with "mittens" when i use them because i can actually afford to replace them. I'm no audio specialist but they work well with my 4th Gen iPod Nano, 2nd Gen Shuffle & 4th Gen Touch. They don't have the triple Flange tips i have grown accustomed to with the Etymotic's but they do stay in my ear and are surprisingly light. The cord is thick and the build quality seems good. I would definitely buy these ear buds again. As a matter of fact i already have purchased The White/Gray and Black/Electric Blue J2's. I'm going to try the JBuds J3's next since they offer a optional)double flange ear tip. Also check out the website. They have a special tool to help you "burn-In" your buds. Thank you JLabs for a excellent product.
Customer Review: UPDATE: poorly made! Summary: 5 Stars
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
UPDATE: 01/22/09: My original review was dated November 26, 2008. It's been less than two months, and the wiring is starting to fall apart in the jack. The right earphone fades in and out if the wire moves around near the jack too much. I use my earphones every day on my way to and from work, and it looks like the new JBuds, like their predecessors, just aren't durable. Actually, I think these are less durable than the ones before them. They're still comfortable, and the sound is still good (when it works right), but they're nowhere near durable enough. I'd give these 2 stars if I could change the star rating on my review.
--------
I had a pair of the original JBuds that I really liked, but they fell apart in about 9 months. Of course, I use my headphones pretty much all day every day, and carry them to and from work five days a week, so I got a lot of mileage out of them.
The new JBuds block outside sounds out effectively and provide good, if slightly muffled sound. I've used a number of different types of earbuds in the past few years, and the JBuds are easily the most comfortable I've used. For that alone, I'd recommend these, but combined with the good sound and price, these are a no-brainer.
My one concern is that, like the original JBuds, these could fall apart. Then again, that could happen to any earbuds that I use with the same frequency.
Customer Review: Great Bang for the Buck Summary: 5 Stars
Jlab J2's are worth every penny. They're great upgrade from the apple iPod included headphones.
Make absolutely sure that you give these earbuds ample burn in time before you get disappointed. I'd give them a minimum burn in time of 24 hours with constant playing.
During the holiday season of 2008, Jlab was offering a 2 for 1 promotion on these. I happened to pick up a pair, and never opened the second pair until much later. Plugging in the fresh pair of J2 earbuds was like night and day when compared to a well broken in set. The newer pair had very poor response on the low end. The higher frequencies weren't as pronounced either.
I've used my J2's for several months now, and they seem to be holding up. The cords aren't fraying or tearing. The labels are wearing off the earbuds, but that's just minor. The cords don't tend to tangle as much as other headphone wires.
Comfort is on par. They include 3 sets of different sized tips for your comfort. I stuck with the medium size. Noise isolation is fairly good. I can still carry on a conversation with someone if they're talking loud, and my music isn't blaring. Else, I can turn up my volume and I can't hear any outside noise.
They come in a variety of colors should you want to personalize. i went with the standard black. They don't draw attention to announce "steal me!"
For 30 bucks, you can't beat it. If they last me a year or two, I feel like I got my moneys worth. If I lose them, no harm no foul. I'd hate to have invested a few hundred on a set of headphones and find them stolen or lost.
Customer Review: Excellent dynamic range in a small package Summary: 5 Stars
I bought some earphones not too long ago from Radio Shack. They were the kind you press into the ear. They were awful. The sound was bad and they wouldn't stay in the ear at all.
The jbud j2 are also a kind that you press into the ear (stay in pretty well you you give them a small twist when inserting instead of just pushing them in.) It made me a little nervous, but the price wasn't bad and the reviews were all good, so, I decided to go ahead with the purchase. Amazon got them to me in less than a week and packaged them well.
The sound quality is very good. Some of my classic piano concertos just come to life with these.
The dynamic range may be a little too good. I like to listen to music before I go to bed and I would use the Samsung earphones that came with my player, and by the way they are very good for being the included earphones. Since it's right before bedtime, I'll turn my player's volume down to 2 or 3 (out of 30). The J2s when turned down that low on volume, the higher frequencies I can't hear like I could with the "cheap" earphones. Perhaps it's my hearing. This really isn't a complaint because when I turn the volume up to say 10, It (J2s) sounds fantastic.
The construction seems pretty good, but only time will tell for sure.
The noise canceling part of the earphones also works very well, if that's what you like. The Samsung earphones you could hear other people talking just fine and still listen to the music. J2's you cannot. That can be good or bad depending on the situation.
I may get another set for my son.
They are good,
Bryce
Customer Review: Blows away my Sennheiser over the ear phones Summary: 5 Stars
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
Holy *%! These little inexpensive buds give off sound that trump my Sennheiser RS120 926 MHz Wireless RF Headphones with Charging Cradle.
I had to try their claim that the bass was good and the highs were high. I like my music loud, but had to turn down Windows Media Player to 7 and it's still incredibly loud. PC is set to 100. Then I played Disturbed. Wow! These little buds are incredible. Then I tried Quicktime and had the same thing happen: the volume must almost be set to zero or you will simply blow your ears out. No exaggeration. I suppose they could be considered a hazard, but if you want volume, it is right here and it has the quality of much more expensive devices.
But then I had to compare them to other ear buds, so I got my the ones I use for my iPod: Philips HN060/37 Noise-Canceling Earbuds. To match the same audio output of my Philips, I had to turn the iPod down to about 4/5ths of what I had.
The bass is outstanding. The high notes ring out. These little things can be maxed-out loud and the person sitting next to you can't hear the tunes.
This is really impressive work.
I highly recommend these earbuds.
