Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of JBuds J2 Premium Hi-Fi Noise-Isolating Earbuds -Onyx Black

Customer Review: Exactly as expected
Summary: 5 Stars

I've been using the original earbuds that came with my laptop for almost a year now, and although they worked fine they had their problems. For instance they had a notable hiss during digital silence. However, during play they had a good sound (actually not bad at all for "free" headphones) and were quite comfortable. So when my dog decided they were a chew toy, I was only mildly disappointed that I would have to replace them, and mostly just worried that I wouldn't be able to find good headphones.

I read a few of these reviews and my overall impression was a good one, so I figured I'd spend a few dollars and get something I figured had a good chance of keeping me satisfied with my purchase. This is indeed the case, I immediately noticed the absence of a hiss during digital silence and a crisp, clear audio response with my laptop.

I don't consider myself an audiophile, but I play cello, so I have a pretty good ear and appreciate the mid to low ranges in my music. I note this because I've read some reviews on this item complaining about the headphones not having an adequate high range. I would disconcur with this statement, I find my new headphones to have quite a full range and thoroughly enjoy listening to my entire gamut of songs that span from techno, to classical, to a Capella. I can now hear elements of the music that are nearly inaudible through meager computer speakers regardless of the volume or other headphones. This may simply be due to a personal preference of the elements I enjoy in my music, and perhaps there really is a noticeable lack of high range (which if there is I would presume would be due to a low-pass filter to rid the signal of an ambient hiss & noise).

I am also quite pleased with the noise isolation feature of the headphones which strictly relies on the comfortable but snug fit of the earbud in the ear canal. It does an excellent job of blocking out the vast majority of the ambient background noise while maximizing comfort. I work in a datacenter which a constant hum of fans from servers and AC units, so it's nice to be able to escape that while listening to music.

Overall I'm quite pleased with my new headphones, and haven't noticed any notable drawbacks.

Customer Review: Excellent Earbuds for Color Optons and Price
Summary: 5 Stars

I am a picky earphone and headphone user. I use them heavily for ipod and ipad, for games, youtube, and music. I have tried various brands and models of headphones. Some of them I returned quickly due to bad sound or quality (if they were over $15 otherwise I kept them) I raelly could not use Ipod/phone headphones properly because they have average sound and fall out of my ears constantly so I was looking for some earbuds.

Given mixed reviews on Jbuds J2, I was worried about them, but I thought I'd give them a try. So far, after a month of use, I am very happy with them. They may appear larger in size than, for example, Sony earbuds, or some other ones, but this is not causing any trouble because they're made of plastic, which is very light. The part that goes into the ear is of standard size. You also get 2 additional pairs for tips, small pair, and larger pair.

The cable used is of nice quality, similar to the ones Apple uses, but less rubbery. It has same thickness though. This mode, J2, has no volume control as advertised. The lower frequencies gives a very strong base without distorting the music. High frequencies sound average. At least I could not hear much difference in higher frequency. I don't listen to it much, but party-style rap music sounded really nice with lower base shaking my ears if I cranked up the volume. Music before 1990s in general sounded normal since it mostly doesn't have much base or big sound range. It also depends on the songs you play. You need to make sure they're actually good quality recordings with high frequency (if you're not familiar, right click on mp3 in computer and see properties. Get at least 164bit songs)

Also if you're testing any headphones, and especially these do NOT plug them into your speakers connected to pc, the speakers will always create background hissing. Connect them directly to the front of laptop/pc/apple.

Do not be turned off by simple packaging and lack of any carrying pouch or whatever it is many brands include. These sound really good. If you like colorful earbuds, you can see yourself how many colorful neon colors are offered.

Customer Review: Excellent sound at reasonable price

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
I own several sets of earbuds and earphones ranging from the stock ones that come with an iPod Nano to decent Sony earphones to some high-range earbuds from Shure. These JBuds J2 earbuds cost much less than the Shure and only a little more than low-end earphones from Sony, but have really good sound.

Just a reminder, these are earBUDS not earphones. Many people use the terms interchangeably but since these are earbuds, this means they must be inserted into the ear canal for use, whereas earphones typically sit on the ear and just slightly touch the ear canal. So if earbuds bother you keep that in mind. Because they are inserted in the canal the upside is they won't fall out and they do cancel out all outside noise.

With less expensive earphones, typically you have to have them turned up a decent amount to hear the full range of tones. But the J2 are vibrant and full from deep bass up to the highest highs even at low volume.

The package includes the earbuds as well as 3 sets of different size earbud covers, classified as small, medium and large. My small and medium covers came in a plastic bag and the large set was attached to the J2's in the box. These covers are small pieces of a rubber material which help the earbuds fit comfortably in different size ears. I usually use medium size covers on my Sony earbuds and used the medium on the J2 buds also.

The earbuds had an overall cord length of a little over 4 feet. The "Y" length from the buds to the point where the cables become one is about 20".

I have tried the buds on my iPod, my Creative Zen and my Blackberry Curve and the sound is superior on all three to the stock iPod earphones as well as the Sony Fontopia I have, and the J2 performance is comparable to the much more expensive Shure earphones.

I highly recommend the JBuds J2 earbuds.

Customer Review: Great value earbuds, great sound

Let me preface this review with the fact that I have owned several pairs of earphones over the years, from cheapo over-the-ear-clip sony's to premium zune earbuds, to audiophile grade cans like the sennheiser hd-590 and 280 pros.

FOR THE PRICE, these are the best headphones I've ever purchased hands down. I decided to switch to earbuds since I listen to music all day pretty much at work while programming, and decided over the ear headphones left bad hair rings (you know what I'm talking about if you've had them) around my ears, and was kind of annoying. So I switched first to the earbuds from my Zune, which are not bad since they come free with Zune gen2 pmps. So I decided to go shopping to see what was out there, and came across the J2's and was surprised by the reviews being so good for such reasonably priced headphones.

When I read a particularly mediocre review, and found that in the comments a company representative had actually responded, I was sold. If they care that much about what people are saying, then I know they are serious about standing behind their product and listening to customer feedback. Ordered and received the next day through my Prime membership.

At first, I was not too pleased with the tinny sound, but knew that all great headphones need burn-in time, so I left them on for nearly 2 days straight, and now a week later, the sound is full and the tinny sound has all but disappeared. Although comparing them to $150+ headphones is unfair, these really do quite a good job, although I don't think anybody can expect in-ear headphones to be as full and powerful as their over-the-ear counterparts simply due to physics. Compared to my Zune earbuds, these provide much better mid-range sound, with ample bass which my zune buds just didn't have.

With that said, you will be hard pressed to find a better value for your money for some in-ear buds that will leave your hair headphone-matted free, while still being able to enjoy your tunes within reasonable expectations.

Customer Review: Definitely worth buying!

I got these a few weeks ago and I was truly impressed with the quality they offered. I used to own SkullCandy Ink'd headphones, and I thought they were absolutely amazing. Now looking back, they were nothing more than average compared to these guys. I was hearing parts of songs that I never even knew existed before. They are not like SkullCandy's in the aspect of how they fit, however. The earbud itself is more comfortable than any other earbud I've ever used, and the rubbery part feels softer than the SkullCandy ones. They don't go all the way into your ear canal, so sound is not entirely blocked out when no music is playing, but when music is playing it is almost impossible to hear anything else. Quality is fantastic, the music is very clear. I gave these as a gift to my brother who had never used anything but Apple's standard earbuds. In less than an hour he was in love with the sound they produced. Construction is of the cord is very solid, and I have yet to have any problems with them even while keeping them in my pocket for hours everyday. The only problem I have with them is the plastic on the ear bud itself feels cheap. It's quite durable, but I just don't like how they feel (not while in your ear, while you're holding them). It's just a personal thing I guess, I'd rather have some type of metal or heavier plastic than feel like the ear bud is only supported by a moderately light plastic. Overall, you can't go wrong getting these. They are fantastic for their price, about 20 dollars when shipping is added. I definitely recommend getting these!

EDIT:
I purchased a set of J3's a few months ago because my cat attacked my J2's and ripped them to shreds. If you are contemplating buying these or the J3's, Go with THESE!!! They J2's are much better than the newer version, sound is more upbeat and music is much more fun to listen to. J2's are just an overall better deal than the J3's. Trust me, you won't regret your decision.
