Sound quality is very important to me. I've used many Skype phones, including expensive portable phones. I find this phone just about perfect. The sound is crystal clear with no echos. It's equal to a landline if not better. Be aware, however, you'll more than likely need to set the software to send the audio to the phone. When you do that, you'll lose audio on your computer until and unless you change that setting. So, if you go to utube, for example, you'll need to listen to the audio on the phone or change your phone settings temporarily. You'll also pick up any computer sounds when you're on a call, such as music playing, etc.
You won't need Skypemate --- a good thing. Everything you need is on the included software CD. You'll get a really neat recorder and can easily record memos or phone calls. Very nice feature. Easy to use. No special settings to worry with. It automatically installs with the software.
It's an easy-to-use phone. Calling international numbers is a bit cheesy. You first touch the plus button. Then you dial the entire number. I think they could do away with the plus key and let you just dial normally. But, it's not a major thing. At least not with me.
The keys are nice. The size of the phone is good. It has a good, solid feel without being heavy or bulky.
If you need or want a Skype USB phone, I highly recommend this one. I don't think you'll be disappointed. I don't know how customer support is as I've not had to call it. If I do, I'll update this review.
UPDATE: I've purchased a new PC since the original review and I'm pleased to tell you that this phone works exceptionally well with Windows 7. On my other Windows 7 machine I have problems with my old USB desk phone that uses Skypemate and had to uninstall it. But this phone works seamlessly with the OS. The sound is still exceptional and I'm very happy with it.
UPDATE: I discovered that the recorder does not work under Windows 7, 64 bit. Ipevo is aware of it now and says they'll have a fix for it. I've started to use Pamala for recording, which does work in Windows 7, 64 bit.
