I read a lot of good reviews for this hard drive, so I decided to give it a try. Maybe it's because I have a Mac, I don't know, but my drive didn't work for me at all. I looked under system profiler to see if my MacBook Pro recognized it at all; it showed up as a firewire device but that was it. I even tried to see if my Windows XP virtual machine would recognize it; it didn't. I got an error message. I'd also like to mention I tried both the firewire and USB cables that came with the drive; neither worked. I ended up getting an RMA from Amazon the day after I received it.Customer Review: Unreliable drive

Drive failed after I used it twice to back up. Now my data is gone and unless I want to pay a lot of money to have it retrieved, I have a worthless piece of hardware and no data. The company has offered to replace it since it's under warranty with the same drive, but why would I trust another of these drives? I purchased this drive from Amazon after reading good reviews. I have never posted a negative review, but I don't think this is a good product and the consequences of losing your data are too great.Customer Review: HOT to the Touch

This product gets VERY HOT while running. It is HOT to the the touch. I would not recommend this product to anyone.
