I had a different manufacturer's Gigabit NIC that just stopped working at Gigabit speed.
I fought with it for a while and then realized it wasn't worth it when I could get an Intel NIC for such a great price. This card installed easily and I was up and running at full Gigabit speed in 15 minutes.
If you are moving really large files, this is a great NIC for the money.

I replaced a built-in (on motherboard) Ethernet 10/100 network connection with this Intel Pro/1000 (gigabyte) network adapter with no problems. The speed seems much better and the install procedure was easy. New updates are available via Microsoft Windows Update procedure.. I even bought 3 more of these adapters to replace the network adapters in my other computers...Customer Review: Great value and performance

Our computer's network connection failed a few days after a big lightning storm. Once I figured out it was the network connection on the motherboard (out of warranty)I started looking for the least expensive way to get back on the network. This board was the perfect solution. many config opts, easy to install, good price and reliable product. i have my appraisal office configured completely cat6; with all workstations using the intel pro 1000 lan cards; gigabit routers and switches on a t1 line. the difference is very noticeable. i highly recommend this lan card for users who need the speed and want the difference.Customer Review: Excellent Gigabit NIC

This Intel NIC card works great under both Windows Vista 32 and 64-bit operating systems. I had purchased a NETGEAR network card prior to purchasing this and routinely ran into blue-screens and poor performance - this card performed significantly better. It's also priced attractively, so if you need a gigabit network card, then this is it.
