Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Intel PWLA8391GT PRO/1000 GT PCI Network AdapterCustomer Review: Works As Expected Summary: 5 Stars
This network adapter was purchased to replace an old and defective 100mbit network card. This card installed flawlessly into my Linux PC and almost installed automatically. The setup for this device was very straightforward and I know that I can rely on the Intel brand to stand up in terms of quality and longevity.
I would highly recommend this card to anyone who runs a Linux PC and who needs a network card. While I cannot vouch for this card working in a Windows OS environment, I'm rather confident that if it can run in the Linux environment, it can run just as flawlessly in Windows.
Customer Review: Works Great with Vista Summary: 5 Stars
I installed this in a three year old Dell Dimension 9100 running Vista 32-bit Ultimate. It works great and the drivers installed automatically. My unofficial performance tests indicate that this card truly delivers gigabit transfer rates. I previously installed a TRENDnet Gigabit PCI Adapter in the same machine and I couldn't get the drivers to load properly. Considering the simplicity and minimal labor required to install this NIC, it was definitely worth a few extra bucks over the lower-cost brands.
Customer Review: Works with Solaris 10 x86 Summary: 5 Stars
My old eMachines T1150 has no built-in NIC. Two cheap 10/100 NICs were not recognized by Solaris 10 x86 (actually, Solaris Nevada b69). I finally decide to buy the Intel PWLA8391GT PRO/1000 GT PCI NIC since I read it used the Solaris e1000g driver. Sure enough, it worked for me. My PC has a 1.3GHz Celeron, 384MB RAM, and two 40GB 5400 RPM disks, so the throughput on the NIC is probably limited by the hardware around it. Thought I'd pass this info along in case there are Solaris folks out there looking for compatible PCI NICs. I believe there's a PCIe version available too.
Customer Review: Great value and painless install. Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this because my Striker II integrated NIC on my Vista 64 would continually (a couple of times a day) bug out with "losing its default gateway". I also noticed that opening a large set of tabs in Mozilla was pretty slow.
The Intel card installed simply and didn't even require an additional driver (in Vista 64). I have had no further problems and can tell a difference on page load time with ~8 tabs opening concurrently.
The Intel had a great price, easy install, and performs flawlessly on my 100 Mbps network.
Customer Review: Can't go wrong Summary: 5 Stars
I ordered this because I was having problem with my Verizon Fios internet connection. My computer is six years old but in great condition and runs fast. I have recently wiped it clean and reinstalled Windows XP Pro and it is a great computer, however, the internet connection was intermittent. I decided to try a new network card to see if that would fix the problem and it did. It was easy to install, simple to get running and I haven't had any internet problem since then. Great inexpensive item.
